First of all, thank you to Frank from Auto-RX for helping to set this up.
The purpose of this test will be to see documented changes in MPG before, during, and after an Auto-RX cleansing cycle in an Automatic Transmission and differential.
The test will be done on a 2001 Toyota RAV-4 4x2 Automatic. The vehicle has 70,135 miles currently. The engine is currently running Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. Before the current oil, the engine received 2 cleansing and rinse cycles of Auto-RX. Both were performed with Pennzoil 5w30 dino for the cleansing and rinse phases. The oil was changed at 68,500 from the last rinse phase on Pennzoil dino to Pennzoil Platinum, so it currently has 1,635 miles on it.
Current mileages will be before Auto-RX has been added to the Transmission, it will be noted when Auto-RX has been added to the transmission.
To make it simple, and because gas mileage has been almost identical at every gasoline fill up, I will start with only the previous MPG average.
The current average is 25.5 MPG on 87 octane Sunoco, Shell and Mobil gasoline. All mileage and gasoline totals will be posted in the future posts. I will also try my best to make sure that the same branded gasoline from the same station is used through out the test. Probably Sunoco or Mobil for convenience, even though I like Shell better.
Thanks for anyone who may be interested in this post, and thanks again to Frank.

The first tank was without Auto-RX and the mileage was...
70,135 to 70445 with a total gas purchase of 11.158....
Gas mileage of 27.78
Auto-RX added to transmission at fill up at 6 oz. to the transmission.
Filled up at mileage 70677 with 232 miles on the tank...
Filled up with 8.396 gallons and gas mileage was 27.63.
I was getting an average of 25.5 mpg before I started this test, so I assume because this mpg is consistant with the tank before and after the initial ARX 6 oz. transmission dose, that I am now using summer blend of gasoline. We will see how the mpg changes or may not change.

Tank of gas was 13.189, and the miles on the tank were 285 with a gas mileage of 21.61!!!!
This is a dramatic decrease in mileage, sorry Frank. I think that the car may have been ilding for a little while, as my wife drives it, and we have a baby. It has been hot here the last couple of days, and she may be starting it and turning on the a/c before she puts our son in the car. This obviously doesn't work with this test, I have convinced her with this tank that we are losing money by doing this. She is going to make sure to just roll the windows down for a few minutes from now on.
As for ATF, I have Pennzoil Multi-Vehicle ATF in there now, and plan to use that again, as the local auto-lube place is a Pennzoil joint. That is all I ever use them for is ATF, because of the T-Tech machine.

Currently I have a total of 517 + whatever is on the current tank of gas, give or take 30 miles with the Auto-RX in the transmission. I will be changing the fluid in about 450 miles or so, should be less than two weeks or so.

Just a quick note. Obviously the Auto-RX isn't likely causing the drop in gas mileage becuase the first full tank with auto-rx was 27.63. Maybe I just got more gas in the tank?? I don't know. I usually don't get 13+ gallons in there, I really don't know.

that generation RAV 4 has tank filling issues. They bubble up and turn off the gas pump with 3 gallons to go. You should either take a long term average, or dribble the gas in up to the filler neck each time for one-tank-mpg measures. The dribble to the lip is probably not perfectly good idea unles you fill up then drive a ways to use some gas.
With wife idling the car forget about MPG measurements.
I'd like to participate in this test, Frank. My gas logs are viewable here http://www.gassavers.org/garage/viewgaslog/604 I'm setting a baseline right now. I'll be ready to go next week with testing. Let me know....
