Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and stumbled upon this product after weeks of researching the web for solutions to my transmission problem. Here's what's going on: I have a '94 Acura Integra with automatic transmission. When my car shifts gears, I feel a sharp jerk back. This is very noticeable going to 2nd gear, and not as strong a jerk when going to 3rd and 4th. I see that the RPM drops significantly when shifting which seems to be the cause of the jerking. I've tried several products from the local automotive stores but nothing seems to help. I've taken it to several transmission shops and they tell me my transmission needs work. When I took it to Aamco Transmissions, they told me they could not find anything wrong with my transmission and think it may be engine related. So, I changed my engine and I am experiencing the same problem.
I do not have a lot of knowledge in automobiles and so "sharp jerk" is the best way I can describe the issue. Can anyone tell me if they think Auto-RX can help with this issue or what they think may be the cause? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. - I tried a product called Transmatic which described itself to be very impressive and promising. Well, needless to say I am here now trying to find a different product for a still existent problem.
I've seen that transmatic and it seams to be more of a lube product as opposed to being a cleaner. When it comes to tranny's I say if it's a clunk sound nothing short of a rebuild is going to fix it. If it is another problem that is slipping or hardshifting, there is a good chance Autorx will fix it, I am proof of that. You have the same problem I did, a sharp jerk, and autorx fixed it for me. if I was you I'd try it, the good news it Autorx also has very very good results with low amounts in your engine too. If you only bought one bottle you could dump half of it in tanny and have two maintenance doses in your engine oil. It' also sounds like that car might benefit a full cycle, which means at just add one bottle to your next oil change, then follow instructions and do your maintenance doses after that. Total investment two bottles. Usually a Sharp Jerk as you call it is becasue of a failing cluth in your tranny, adding lubrication isn't going to help as you already have lubrication there IE tranny oil. What you need is a cleaner, and in my experience autorx is a very effective cleaner. It is either a tranny or a gear, engines cannot do that. If it was the engine it would happen whenever, instead of just when your changing gears. The stuff is worth a shot if nothing else, good luck. See what it did for my tranny in other post.
Well, I tried Auto RX in my engine and transmission. I drove the vehicle cross country(over 1200 miles) and no improvement of any sort. Both fluids appeared only slightly darker because Auto RX is a dark liquid. I wish I had great news to share to you, but I am one individual where Auto RX did not work. If any of you would like the remaining 6oz of Auto RX from my transmission application, let me know. No point of putting the remaining amount in the transmission. I'm happy for all of you who had great success from using the product. I will have to look elsewhere.
I hate to tell you this but if there were no improvements in your engine you have to realize that the bulk of your improvements are going to happen on the rinse phase, as far as your trans goes, if there was not any junk in there you might not notice any difference. The thing that I learned from using Auto-Rx is that improvements take time and many miles, I have heard from Frank that sometimes you will not notice a big difference until you complete the rinse phase and you are a few hundred miles on the maintenance dose, as far as your transmission goes did you change the fluid and filter when you were supposed to, if it is engine related and you changed your engine and the problem is still there it could be a problem in your ignition system or computer, the reason I say that is because on my 83 Chevy it would rev up high and not move much, I changed my trans filter and fluid but the problem was that my vacuum advance on the distributor was hooked up to the wrong vacuum source, are all of your vacuum lines leak free, a bad vacuum line can cause problems, I would post on BITOG and see what you can find out. I am puzzled that some trans shops said it needed work, what kind of work, did you ever take the car to the dealer, sometimes they know more than the independent shops.
