I have inquired regarding this before but I believe it got lost/forgotten on the end of an older/tired post. I will throw it out there again.
Frank has clearly explained that during the rinsing phase, plain jane dino (i.e. Castrol GTX, yellow bottle Pennzoil, etc...) should be utilized. My understanding is that the simple additive packages associated with these oils allow the debis and contaminants to be flushed to the filter whereas the complex additive packages associated with synthetics can actually suspend/polarize this dirt etc.. around the metal parts.
With this in mind, my question concerns the maintenance dose?
Will this same chemistry (sythetics) be counterproductive to the effectiveness of an A-RX MD? Is the MD still performing some cleaning where the ability of many synthetics to cling to metal would not be advantageous? Would the rinsing abilities of dino be preferred?
Auto-Rx Maintenance Plan is to keep engine as clean as it was when you finished application. Understand now that your oil is lubricating clean metal. your getting as close to total oil lubrication of engine parts possible. Your choice of oil does not alter the maintenace plan performance as it is continously keeping metal clean. Restoring compression-combustion-better MPG -driving dirt. contamianants- etc. to the filter in a liquified state. Oil is a carrier for Auto-Rx.
I believe JAG's experiment (see the post) proved that arx can fortify even a good synth and prevent deposits from forming as quickly. Myself i used it with some group III Pennzoil in the MD and it seems not only did it protect but it actually removed deposits!
