Please read the application. Is there a new filter you can put on (in the event you cause existing filter to get fill & back up contaminated oil through valve covers?)follow the instructions please.
What I'm saying is this is a company truck, & I don't do the maintenance. I would have to get the company mechanic to do this. He's not always available, so would there be any damage if the mileage is exceeded? I don't want to trash a company truck, but this one is pretty tired after 11 years of poor maintenance. If the filter fills up, I can stop driving it until he can change it.
Following the directions would be best, But as long as your oil filter doesnt get clogged and cause the ciruclation of particulates then I wouldn't see too much of a problem but I certaintly don't recommend it.
As jordanp123 has pointed out the risk is really that the oil filter get's clogged and goes into by-pass, allowing unfiltered oil to circulate through the engine. The only way you are going to know if your filter is clogged is by opening it up.
There is an option of running the ARX on the back end of the oil change. Add the bottle 1500 to 2000 miles into the oil change interval. Then run the last 1500 miles of the oil change interval with the ARX installed. This would be a better alternative than running the cleaning action for 3000-4000 miles on an old motor.
If possible follow the instructions in all cases. In your case dependant on your company to do the oil changes, without them knowing of the ARX application, the above makes the most sense to me.
I've personally seen a filter clogged with sludge after a 3,000 mile clean phase. I have not witnessed the same happening with longer than recommended rinse phases. However isn't there just as big of a risk of a filter being overloaded in the rinse phase as in the clean phase in a highly sludged motor?
