I know there's been a couple of postings on this but they've been somewhat conflicting. I have several small engines (riding lawnmower and generator) that I 'd like to auto-rx. My current understanding from the previous posts is a clean and rinse phase each of about 10-12 hours (the lawnmower has no oil filter, the generator does).
Is 10-12 hours for each phase the current 'official' auto-rx recommendation?
When using Auto-Rx in a lawnmower engine with no oil filter make sure you change the oil after 8 to 10 hours of running time on the engine. I have a riding mower and was using 3 to 4 oz of oil ever 3 hours of engine running time after Auto-Rx cleaning it stopped using oil. After cleaning I started using 1oz of Auto-Rx in 1 quart of oil and it has worked great.
How much oil (what kind) in your generator? is filtere replaced or washable ? this is a closed unt and I don't see any need to go to rinse mode
On the generator, it's an Onan and I am running 10w-30 dino currently (but am thinking about using synthetic). It's a regular screw-on automotive oil filter. So are you saying run 8-10 hours in the generator using auto-rx and then drain, replace oil and filter with no rinse? What if I want to change to synthetic, should I rinse with dino for 8-10 hours and then switch?
On the lawnmower. you're saying 8-10 hours of clean and then 8-10 hours of rinse or again, no rinse?
I did some testing on my 11HP Briggs Stratton riding lawnmower about a year ago the oil tank holds 1qt of oil after the cleaning I dumped the oil and put fresh in also 1oz of Auto-Rx and continued to run for the normal oil changes this works for me just make sure you dont add more than 1oz of ARX per qt of oil or it will foul your plug. There is no rinse phase on lawnmowers hope this helps you out.
Run 8-10 hours in the generator using auto-rx and then drain, replace oil and filter. Do you know if it has sludge or is dirty if the answer is yes I would run 10 or 12 houre and dump the oil. Again it depends on wht shape it is in.
