Transmission Maintenance

What most folks forget about is doing the transmission cleaning dose prior to having the fluid exchanged. The tranny is the weak link in many automobiles due to lack of fresh fluid. In an automatic normal fluid exchange should be every 30,000 miles. But most people don't get it done. If you have gone over or well over the normal extended drain in the transmission. Do yourself a favor and run the cleaning dose in the trans for 1000 miles before you have it purged. Don't let the trans be the weak link due to neglect. If that means buying an extra bottle of ARX, when considering your motor, do it. The transmission will take a half bottle and have a couple or three maintanance dosed left for the motor. This is the real no brainer.

Normal usage every 50,000 miles. Heavy Duty usage every 25,000 miles eg towing

Good point Frank. Also don't forget folks, ATF also (typically) has a shelf life.
I've seen some ATF's with a shelf life of only 4 years... SOME bottles may
have a date, while many, (if not most) do not. I personally wouldn't go more
than about 6 years on the same fluid... your mileage may vary!

Please click on Transmission Site located home page Auto-Rx on index. There is no rinse phase in transmission application fluid is basic hydraulic plus additive package very viscious and since transmission is a sealed unit
no need to rinse 6 ounces Auto-Rx is good for any automatic transmission.

Thanks Daryl
I added it to my tranny in my 99 Crown Vic and after I drained the entire tranny/torque converter I did notice smoother shifts than before.
The only thing I did was I left it in for about 2500.I just didn't get a chance to flush the fluid when the mileage interval came up.

The transmission application is real simple. Just remember to add the cleaning dose 1000 miles before scheduled service/ fluid exchange. The addition of the ARX into the trans 1000 miles before fluid exchange ensures that any deposits of spent fluid are dissolved before the exchange to new fluid. Honestly every 30,000 miles or 3 years max. auto tranney fluid should be exchanged.
