The use of ARX can save alot of money. The product was originally designed to clean out the lubrication system of motors and transmission, as well as gear boxes. I have read many posts about fuel savings which are huge, some as many as two to three miles per gallon. To that I must say that the cleasing of stuck ring packs must be the answer. Almost all of these type posts, the user experienced this gain in the first 500 miles of the cleaning cycle. This is typically the mileage required to have a significant impact on piston rings.
In my case on a motor that had already been cleaned and rinsed, I find that there is some economy gained by running the maintenance dose. Over the last year I have been tracking mileage on my small truck. I have alternated running the maintenance dose, every other oil change. For my driving requirements that is 4 oil changes. Based on the 2 oil changes with the maintenance dose installed I can see that I at least get 1/10 of a mile better fuel economy running the maintenace dose, compared to the 2 OCIs without the maintenance dose. This sounds insignificant but really it is quite large. The bottom line getting 21.1 miles per gallon vs. only getting 20 mpg will save me 261 gallons of fuel over 100,000 miles. Based on fuel running at $3.10 per gallon, currently, my savings will be $809.10. This would make my ARX purchases rather insignificant.
