Auto RX on a not-driven-much Taurus

Besides sucking oil into the intake via PCV valve, the oil that is being sucked into the intake is quite gassy - there is gas in the oil - blowby?

I posted this on the tarus club and Paul Nimz(I think that's who) said AutoRX could help with the possibly blowby?

A little history of the car. It was driven by an old lady for its first 2 years, From 2 years to 4 years it did a lot of sitting around ... sitting for a month at a time would be normal. That's when I got the car. I drove a lot of short trips in it for about 2 years. Now that I am at college, the car sits 1-3 weeks at a time. I also rarely put my foot to the floor.

Now my question is: I have 3 months left of college then my summer break. 1 of two things is going to happen - depending on where I get a job, the car might end up getting driven 80 miles a day or parked most of the summer.

Given my current situation, how would I do an AutoRX treatment? I don't drive much or hard - my last oil change was in october and I haven't been 3000 miles yet.

Any help is appreciated. I really like the car (probably the only 19 year old that likes a Taurus) and want to stop the blowby.

I've changed the PCV Valve 2 times since october and it still sucks oil into the intake.

I would start an ARX treatment as soon as you can. ARX works pretty quickly on the ring packs. There is plenty of heat and pressure as well as agitation at the ring wall interface, so as to make ARX do it thing quickly. Most folks with stuck rings have seen substantial improvement in the first 250-500 miles of the application.

There are some folks here and over at BITOG that have run a double dose, or two bottles at the same time and claim faster results. But in your case, I would stick to the single bottle.
In light of your limited driving I would probably start out with fresh oil and a new filter. If you can find the need to make a highway cruise do so, to rack up some miles. Otherwise, ARX will work on those ring packs on your schedule.

Thanks.

I'll be ordering it soon and having it shipped to my dorm room here. I'll be having an oil change done in the next few weeks (I don't change my own oil) and I'll start it then.

Right now, when I drive ... twice a month ... it is usually all highway miles. The shortest trip I make is 20 miles. To put it simply, I refuse to do short trips in town.

Also, would the occasional WOT run help the AutoRX do it's job?

Well the occasional WOT wouldn't hurt while auto-rx is doing it's job, but I doubt it would provide any benefit.

A decently long highway trip would help it more than anything. Get it up to temp and keep it up there for a while.

For a lack of a better way to put it, auto-rx is "heat activated".

Don't worry about the long time it will take to reach 2500 miles. I put ARX in our Honda Civic in late September, and still have 200 miles to go on the cleaning phase. Here is a link to my latest observation...
