"Dan, what do you mean this is the first time you've put it into a transmission?!"
I've only been using auto-rx for years now!
Anyways.
First time I've used it in a transmission. I'm shocked!
Bought a 4Runner with almost 198k miles on it.
Drained out 4 quarts (of 4.8 quarts) from the transmission and filled it with fresh fluid. I then added 4 oz of www.auto-rx.com which I have used successfully on many engines.
Drove it 1100 miles give or take a bit and decided to check the fluid level to make sure it's not leaking. OMG! The stuff was almost black.
So here's a picture of what I drained out. I replaced another gallon of fluid today and added another 4 oz of auto-rx. I guess I'll check it again in another 1000 miles or so.
On the paper towel are a few drops of the fluid I drained out of there and to the far right a drop of brand new ATF. What a difference!
Hello Dan just make sure to drain out Auto-Rx at 1000 miles (and sure you got torque converter clean) no rinse mode on transmissions. Your the first person whoever cleaned there transmission twice.
For our readers please follow application instructions found on www.auto-rx.com on home page just click on transmissions. Thanks Frank Miller
Darkdan, I did Auto-Rx in my transmission too, and it shifts like a new transmission, my fluid was not black but it was definetly a darker red or burgundy color, I have gone through about 30 quarts of transmission fluid , basically each time I drained out 6 quarts of fluid it was more of a bright red color, my feeling is that even if you get all of the old fluid out cleaning is still going on, when you checked the dipstick was it a black color on the dipstick, meaning did the trans fluid look black on the dipstick, how did the bottom of your trans pan look, mine had a greyish black goo on the bottom of the pan.
