I have had Auto-Rx in my trans for 1200 miles. Now all I have to do is have a service department change the filter and flush all the old trans fluid with new fluid, right? My trans is running just fine and since the truck is new to me and it has 140000 miles on it I wanted to change the fluid and filter with auto rx's help. After this is done it wont slip or clog up right? Thats the guarantee, right? I can't help not being a little scared, I don't have the money for a new trans.
Did you follow the instructions which are add ARX drive 1000 miles change and add new fluid now you are at 1200 miles change your fluid add new and drive on Auto-Rx will do no harm to your transmission. When using Auto-Rx it is very important to follow the instructions.
It,s 6 ounces for 1000 miles, make sure you clean torque converter when you drain Auto-Rx and dirty transmission fluid. Your responsible for doing the application correctly. Did you ever read the Auto-Rx Transmission Application ?
Yes, I did read the trans application and put in 6oz. I am at 1200 miles after putting in the arx. Now, I'm taking it to a shop so they can replace the filter and flush the tranny fluid.
Let me try another way 1000 miles is the clean mileage needed------- NOT 1200 OR 1300 Miles. Where do you get 1200 miles ? did you use an additive prior to Auto-Rx ? I understand your nervous about what your transmission.
I've only had the truck a couple of months and I do not know history. Your product says to run for 1000 to 1500 miles depending on if there is any additives. I just wanted to go around 1200 miles if there were any additives.
No, not really. But, I thought it ran strong before arx. I just knew the fluid was getting dark and I wanted to use the arx to help clean it up. Auto-rx sounded like a good cleaner to use instead of those quick flushes. It gives me better piece of mine that the trans is nice and clean! I'm also doing the arx in my engine. I'm on the 1st cycle.
With this transmission make sure that any time you drive it hard, meaning flooring it or passing someone you do not have the car in overdrive as this is the weakest gear on this transmission, also Redline D4 and Amsoil ATF both meet the MerconV specs, I think that Advance Auto also has a Mercon V fluid, so there are many choices out there.
EXACTLY, the weakest link on these transmissions or any overdrive transmission is the overdrive gear, if you took 2 vehicles that were exactly the same model year engine and transmission and raced from stop light too wherever maybe another the stop light the 1 in overdrive would probably loose, my Dad had a 1983 Buick Riviera with a 200R4 transmission which had an overdrive in it, he always drove around with it in overdrive and when I went too change his trans fluid it was black, now he did not have an external trans cooler, if your F150 does not have an external trans cooler get one, when the transmission is in overdrive it is running hotter, I do not know why but this is what I read, you only want it in overdrive when you are cruising down the road not when you are doing spirited driving, my 04 Marauder has the same trans as yours and it has a big external cooler from the factory, also MerconV is a step up from regular Mercon, another thing I would do on your transmission is too get a magnet for the bottom of the transmission pan you can get this from a company called Filtermag, did you know that most trans filters only filter down too 100 microns whereas the filtermag magnet filters down too 2 microns, every time I have changed my trans filter there has never been anything in it but on the Filtermag magnet there has always been metallic sludge, in case you do not believe me remember I have 357,000 miles on my transmission, do you want the metal pieces the filter cannot catch scraping the inside of your transmission or do you want it on the magnet, hope this info helps.
