A friend of mine came over too change the oil in his Toyota and when we went to add the new oil it took almost 3 minutes too pour in 5 quarts of oil, we had to pour it slow because the oil seemed like it was just sittng there in the valve cover hole where you pour the oil in, it has 42,000 miles on it, I looked his car up on the internet and it did have the sludge problem, he now wants to use Auto-Rx because the only other alternative would be too take the engine apart and clean it, his oil cap was dirty and crudded up too.
Only 42k miles? Has he tried to contact Toyota and see if they can replace the engine for him since those motors are known for developing a sludge problem?
He bought the car used from Carmax, I will contact him and let him know, he has no idea that these engines had any problems. I will ask him how long he has had this vehicle, you will not see me buying a Toyota any time soon, I will stick with small block chevy's, I guess I have some experience since mine has 356,000 miles.
Toyota or not, when buying a used car one should always remove the valve cover to check for sludge. I have a 97 honda accord which was a sludge bucket and the motor gave out at 145k miles , I only had the car for a year when that happened. I also have a 95 lexus gs300 with the 2jzge motor which at 162k should be sludged up. I should be receiving my auto-rx shipment on this tuesday. Hopefully auto-rx can give my car a new lease on life.
I see a few problems for him, he does not have receits for his oil changes and obviously when he bought the car he did not do his homework, basically his only option is to try Auto-Rx, I warned him that if he does not do Auto-Rx this engine will not last long and that he basically threw $20,000 out the window if he does not give this product a try, he is a nice guy but when it comes to cars his knowledge is about as good as my knowledge is at giving birth too children so I will have too patiently explain things to him.
As long as he is willing to take the time and listen to someone who knows what they are talking about he should be ok. Most people either dont care or think they know more than you when it comes to such issues. You would be surprised how many "car guys" i know who are not even willing to look into auto-rx. Oh well, its their loss. If auto rx does come through for him, which I believe it should, it would be a great testimonial to its cleaning abilities.
I agree, I will be honest I must know something about cars if I have 356,000 miles on an engine in the same car that I have been driving since September 1987, the car had 54,000 miles on it when I bought it and it runs better now than it did back then, obviously a lot of credit goes to Auto-Rx.
