I can't believe what Auto RX has done for our 99 Honda Civic. I guess in late September I started the cleaning phase in this vehicle, with about 75,500 miles on the clock. The car is rarely driven, lots of really short trips, and has about 250 miles left to go on this application. The car has always run well, and gotten good fuel economy. I live in Louisville Ky, and several times a year, the car is driven to Memphis TN which is ~400 miles (the vehicle was driven for 6 straight hours and 400 miles, on the way down) each way. I always start out with a full tank, and have to fill up before we reach Memphis. On the way home, I started out with a full tank and pulled into my driveway with 1/4 tank left! I couldn't believe it, this is something that the car has never achieved. The only variables on this trip were 9 oz of Auto RX, and a relatively new air filter (it always gets changed every 15,000 miles), and a new fuel filter. Unfortunately it didn't even occur to me to re-set the trip odometer, or to figure the mileage. I am simply amazed, and can't wait to see what happens during, and after, the rinse phase!

Those are some pretty amazing gains in mpg, Iam about 50 miles into the cleaning phase on my Lexus, hopefully I can achieve the same type of mpg gains as well.
Keep us updated on how the cleaning phase turns out.

I'm about 400 miles into my clean phase on a 94 chevy truck with 175,000 miles. I am hoping for anything close to what you described. This thing is getting about 5 MPG less than what it is rated at.

Let us know what happens when you start the rinse phase

I almost think that time helps the Auto Rx. My truck is driven 50 miles per day, and the results weren't near what the Honda has shown.

Probably just a different engine with a different sludge build up but I would love to hear what someone with more knowledge thinks about the time issue. I know they just increased the miles on the cleaning phase. I wonder if the time spent in the engine was part of the reasoning behind it.

It is not the actual time that allows the ARX product to dissolve oiling system deposits per say. For example the product isn't really doing anything while the motor is stopped. For ARX to work effectively, the first requiement is to have good oil flow occuring circulating the product throughout the oiling system. Heat is also quite useful to the ARX cleaning.

Although ARX has proven to work in situations where the vehicle is only driven short trips, the ideal situation is putting on as many miles with the motor at full operating temperature and with the motor running at relatively high rpms where oil pressure is at the maximum. This would normally be some highway driving, provided that the freeway is clear and traffic is flowing well.

Over the years the application for cleaning and rinsing has been extended. This was proven out over a relatively long period, with many used oil analysis samples and tests to give the consumer the greatest bang for the buck, with safely cleaning still being the overriding factor.
