Audi 1.8T, how to Auto RX?

How many miles does the car have?, as long as the oil you choose is not synthetic or " high milage" you should be ok.

Its got 78k miles. I use mobil 1 0W40 (VW/Audi approved) which isn't a true synthetic like amsoil, but still a synthetic class 3.

You should be ok with Mobile 1, as long it is non synthetic.

I would recommend that you NOT use Mobil 1 0w-40 for the cleaning, or rinse phase. As far as I know, and as far as I've seen proved, Mobil 1 0w-40 is a group IV.

This is my entire post.

Auto-Rx can work with synthetic for initial cleaning phase for "Sludge Issues" that includes Mobil 1. It is the sludge problem alone that causes me to state don't use a true synthetic as it's complex additive package holds oil to metal. You don't want this effect when your goal is to remove engine damaging sludge from oil lubricated parts.

Why not use a group 111 oil for second cleaning & rinsing that will do nicely ?

if synthetic users could understand that sludge keeps being formed and the Auto-Rx Application keeps sludge flowing into the filter and that the end game is to keep there engine from extinction due to sludge. i am sure
group 111 oils would be very acceptable.

So i'll be fine using the current mobil 1 during my cleaning phase. I'm going to use regular oil for the rinse. It should be here tomorrow and i'm planning on pouring it in right away.

Mike, you might want to consider for the rinse cycle an oil like Chevron Delo 400 15w-40. I've used it with good results and it's not expensive. You can get in in gallon jugs. If you suspect you have a sludge problem you can do two rinse cycles. If you drain some of your used rinse oil into a glass container you can get an idea of what's coming out of your engine.

If I owned your model car I would be willing to do two complete clean/rinse cycles. Your car is very expensive to work on and the engine really works the oil hard. For me I would do the two complete cycles but would do an extra oil change in the rinse cycle. The rinse cycle is where the real work of getting rid of the crud happens. I would also change the filte with each oil change, even the extra rinse cycle change. You have a great car but a little extra work will be worth the effort.

Thanks larry. I ordered 2 bottles of the auto rx and I do plan on doing 2 clean and rinse cycles. I will use my current mobil 1 oil for the first clean phase, then after that for the rinse and next clean/rinse I will use regular oil. I do not want to change out the current mobil 1 in the car because it only has maybe 500 miles on it.

Do you mean Mobil 1 full synthetic ? if so extend clean mileage to 3000 miles and rinse mileage to 3500 miles.
(I am confused on which Mobil your posting about)

Why are you not doing the maintenance dose ?

This is my first time doing an auto-rx. I just got the 2 bottles today. I poured one in and im going to keep it in for 2000-2500 miles then drain and pour in 5w30 castrol gtx for the rinse.

I poured the bottle in and i'm doing a clean and rinse. I'm not sure what you are asking? I am doing a clean and rinse on a sludge prone audi/vw 1.8T engine.

With 78,000, I'd do the full clean/rinse deal too
