Hi, I recently changed my oil & filter (approx 400 miles ago). Will it be alright to add auto RX now for a basic application, or should I change them again? Many Thanks
Thank you for purchasing ARX you have selected a great product. No just add Auto-Rx and you are good to go I am assuming you doin't have a sludged engine.
Hi Daryl & pw01, thanks for your replies. My car: 1999 VW Passat 1.8 Turbo, with 54000 miles. I Have been using mobil 1 regularly (evey4-5k) since owning the car (4 Years). The last change done by myself. The oil looked very black along with the filter. So thought Auto RX would clean up the engine. I changed to Fuchs TITAN supersyn 5w40 which I am told is hydrocracked & not a true synthetic. Which I believe makes it a group 111 oil. I could not find a 5w40 mineral oil. I have no reason to think I have a sludge problem. Although from reading I see the only way to realy tell is to open up the top of the engine. I am unable to do this at the current time. I am now thinking maybe I should just go with the heavy sludge program. With the thought: If you are not sure, presume the worst! Would there be any problems doing this if I dont have sludge? Also is the Fuchs suitable & can I still just add Auto RX now(after 400 miles), using the heavy sluge program? Thanks again scobe
I would suggest that you clean or replace your PCV system if you haven't already done so. I have a hunch that a clogged PCV system is one of the main reasons why some end up having a sludged 1.8T engine and some don't.
