High mileage oil in cleaning phase
Permalink

I didn't notice that the instructions said to avoid using high mileage motor oil during the cleaning phase. I just started the cleaning using Super Tech High Mileage in a 4.9L Ford straigh six with 143K miles on it.

Do I have any thing to be concerned about?

No however this oil,s additive package contains 1 additive that holds the oil to the metal. You don,t want that when your wanting to clean the metal. To work around this extend your cleaning miles from 2500 to 3000 and your rinse miles should be fine as you can get back on track with correct rinse oil.

Nealva61,

Thank you for purchasing Auto-Rx. With 143K do you plain on doing 2 cleanings and rinse phases? If your answer is yes I would not worry about the high mileage but make sure you follow the 2nd applaction instructions.

Hadn't decided on the second cleaning but the miles and my error using the high mileage oil I guess I probably should.

If I do two cleanings should I rinse in between the two?

Nealva61,

Absolutely the rinse phase is where sludge and containments get removed from all the metal parts after the Auto-Rx dissolved them.
