I have a '95 Buick Roadmaster Wagon with a 5.7 LT-1 engine. I have over 120k miles on this daily driver which I use for everything! I tow occasionally & I even drag race w/it on the weekends. The only modifications are an air intake, tires/wheels & a shift kit in the trans. This car is VERY well maintained & I want to use the best oil I can in the crankcase. I am planning on doing a Heavy Sludge App of Auto-Rx and want to consider carefully the oil I use from then on. The Valvoline website recommends a high-mileage oil for anything over 75k miles and in their "Oil Chooser" they've designated the Maxlife Synthetic oil for my application because of the occasional racing & towing. I've heard in the past it's not good to start using a sythetic oil on a higher mileage vehicle, but here is a synth made specifically for this purpose.
Do you agree with this recommendation? If not, please elaborate.
I would use the cheapest Wal-Mart Super Tech Oil you can get, I think that the High Mileage Oil is not recommended to be used with Auto-Rx, I am not sure why, but I am sure others will chime in too tell you why you should not use the high mileage oil.
