Just purchased 4 bottles of ARX. Can I use the synthetic blend of Motorcraft 5W20 that is sold at WalMart? Was unsure, so I purchased the recommended Valvoline conventional for the first change and add of ARX, but can I use the Motorcraft for the rinse phase and the second application phase. I own a 2001 F150 supercrew with 120,000 miles on it. It is using about 1/2 a quart of oil every 3000 miles. I assume it is using it,as there are no signs of a leak on the carport. It runs very well, with a slight idle miss. No codes. Gets about 15mpg with mixed hwy/city driving. Bought used, year and a half ago and unsure of previous maintance. Very clean and has no other problems. Thanks in advance. Jimmy
Hello Jimmy follow the application for engines over 100,000 miles save synthetic til your done your cleaning and rinsing. Synthetic will be fine when used with Auto-Rx Maintenance Program your pay back wil be great.
Thanks for using Auto-Rx Tech Talk it is completelyrun by Auto-Rx Users. 99.9% of every thing posted here is correct
Jimmy, as Franks says, do the >100k application. Don't be surprised if the consumption goes away. MC is not a bad choice. Just stay the course and don't deviate.
I'm using the Motorcraft synthetic blend during my rinse phase, but it really wasn't getting dirty very fast. It made me question just how much detergent ability the oil had. Since I added a quart of Shell Rotella T 5W-40 synthetic (group III) which is known to have a lot of detergent ability, the oil is darkening from sludge a lot faster.
