Starting Auto-Rx on 2nd and 3rd cars...

I had a great experience with Auto-Rx with my '88 Jeep Wrangler. I am convinced it brought that engine back to life. It stills runs great with regular maintenance doses. Now I am starting treatments on two other cars and could use some advice.

'04 Santa Fe with 105k. I have run synthetic since new because of the harsh climate. Just recently noticed discoloration on the dipstick. I am planning one treatment and switch back to synthetic for the winter.

'95 Olds Achieva with 53k. It's old but runs great and get over 30mpg. I am starting a treatment mainly because of the age of the car. Planning one treatment and follow with regular maintenance doses.

I appreciate any suggestions.

Bob

On the 04 Sante Fe after how many miles did you notice discolorization on the dipstick, just because you used synthetic oil does not mean that it is cleaner inside the engine, what I am getting at is I fell into this belief too, well I use synthetic oil so my engine is very clean, on your Sante Fe you may need to do another Clean and Rinse, the application instructions say for any engine with over 100,000 miles to do 2 clean and rinses, did you buy both cars used or brand new. On the 95 Olds Achieva it sounds like you should be o.k. with 1 treatment, before I can give you a clear answer on the 04 Sante Fe we need to know at what mileage of the Clean Phase you noticed discolorization.

I agree with Brent. You might want to check the PVC valve or other crankcase breathing apparatus this motor may have. If crankcase vapors are free to escape contamination is destined to build, regardless of motor oil used. Trapped crankcase gases also put alot of stress on seals.

If you are concerned about running a cheap dino oil, then run a group III such as PP. A group III is ultra refined dino.

Thanks for the advice.  I first noticed the dipstick discoloration on the Santa Fe about 5-10k ago.  I think I already knew that it should get two treatments.  I was hoping to get the synthetic back in before the colder Winter weather.  I will check the PCV also.
