I bought a 96 Miata last September. The car only had 52k on it. I bought it just to keep occupied. I changed all the belts and hoses as soon as I got it. After driving it approx 500 miles I noticed an oil leak at the rear of the engine. The leak was coming from the weep hole in the transmission. I kept an eye on it for another 200 miles and the leak seemed to be getting worse. One of the moderators on Miata.net had mentioned Auto-Rx. I talked to Frank back in november and decided to give it a try. I changed the oil and filter and added the correct amount in early december. The car was only driven approx 100 mi from that time till march. I started putting more mileson it, due to driving to my sons house 60 miles from here. I have now put a total of 600 miles on the car since adding the AR. I noticed a few days ago that there is no longer a small puddle under the car. The gas mileage was great at 29 mpg. I just checked it last tank and it is now almost 32 mpg. Nothing else has been done to the car since the oil change, so I have to attribute the improvement to Auto-Rx. Gonna post on Miata.net in a few as there is a tendency for the miatas to leak at the rear seal.
Keep us posted and keep an eye on your oil, meaning check the oil level every now and then and it might be a good idea to change your PCV if you have not already done so, good luck.
The oil level is right where it was when I changed it. I have noticed a bit of of a lifter noise in the last couple days. Miatas seem to have problems with lifter noise. Since mine just started, I am thinking it may be associated with the Auto-Rx. I will keep an ear on it and wait the full 2500 miles before draining. I think i will pick up a new PVC valve tomorrow.
Forgot to mention earlier the oil still looks approx the same color as when I changed it. I used Valvoline 10w30 as that was the oil used by the previos owner.
