Can A-RX save this motor? I posted before about wanting to try A-RX in my neighbors Passport, because it had a pretty good tick to it. Well, that tick has become a death rattle.

Here's a video I uploaded to YouTube of it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJpXf1DND48

I dumped my spare quart of A-Rx in, and we're going to see what happens. It's his only car for him, his wife, and two kids, so he can't be without it to tear it down. If it doesn't quiet down, we may have to pull the oil pan and see if anything clogged underneath.

At idle, the pressure gauge shows 30psi... yet the rattle doesn't go away until you're up over 2k rpm or so.

I haven't talked to him lately. I know he was taking it to a garage to be looked at.

Turned out it was a bent valve, possibly caused by a worn rocker arm? He's still driving it, and it sounds worse every day... but he's planning on replacing the engine instead of getting this one fixed and worked over. Probably be cheaper in the long run, anyway... but I'm just waiting to see him sitting along side the road at the end of an oil slick after that sucker snaps and drops into the chamber...
