AC & MY TRANSMISSION
Permalink

My A/C in my 99 Buick Regal LS was worked on by someone who did not know what they were doing. As soon as a few days after I had lots of water from unit all in passenger floor board. They fixed that than when A/C was on,temp guage would go to half way mark and transmission would buck felt like it was seperating from the engine. They just could not fix it and i had to much money in the car to junk it. Added 6 ounces of Auto-Rx and shudder & bucking is
gone MPG is back ( had dropped 6 miles per gallon from normal 22 MPG) I am putting 1000 miles on and doing a T-Tec. Damage could include a pin hole in the transmission line going to radiator, if so this transmission should be fried. Will post again.

Frank, the problem with cars that have been built in the last 10 years is that you almost always have to take it too a dealer to get fixed. Buick Regal needs to go too the Buick Dealership since they work on these cars all of the time. I will tell you what I know about A/C, you need to use it all of the time meaning down in Florida during the winter time turn it on at least once or twice a week to keep the seals up. Now as far as the water coming in I will take a guess and say it is important to keep out any debris where the hood and windshield meet, sometimes debris can be trapped and cause problems. Did you have a transmission fluid leak, the transmission line is under a lot of pressure so if you had a leak there it would be all over the engine in my opinion, as far as the loss in fuel mileage I do not know what too tell you as I am not that familiar with your vehicle. The other thing could be an inoperable electric cooling fan as they do wear out, when you turn the A/C on your electric fans should automatically come on, now on my Marauder I put a screen in front of the A/C condenser so that the fins do not get bent , if this happens then airflow has a hard time going through the condenser to the radiator, so check to make sure there is no problems there, not enough airflow will cause the temp gauge to go up, I think I once heard that if the transmission fluid temp gets above 200 degrees you can have problems. You may also check your serpentine belt to make sure it is working properly, look at the simple things 1st, hopefully some of this information will help you out.

Sounds like a plugged drain plug. Happens alot. Take a look for a rubber hose on the passengers side on the firewall about halfway down. that is one of the drains. I know there are more but it:s all I can remember

They incorrectly put the evaporator box back on. They did not tighten cooling line from transmission to radiator.
FIXED ALL THIS.The engine ran bad. I put 1 bottle of Auto-Rx in when I found sludge inside of the oil cap. I previously had cleaned and rinsed 3 times ran 1 maintenace dose and than was testing peformance etc without Auto-Rx maintenance plan. New results as follows.

Temperature has dropped A/C would let you hang meat and engine runs like a bat out of hell. if i did not get Auto-Rx free i would buy it and NEVER RUN AN ENGINE WITHOUT IT.
