Hi Frank, I have a 1999 v-6 Toyota Camry. I have around 130K and I have done two clean and rinse cycles with ARX. I wanted to know wether i can run 4000 mi OCI's with 5W30 conventional and 3 Oz of ARX. Thanks
Post I put on another board same general question as yours.
Auto-Rx would only be positive and your UOA would be very good. There is no solvent or petroleum based chemistry in Auto-Rx so your adding nothing to your oil chemistry. In fact you can extend your OCI at least 25 % when your using the maintenance dose.Auto-Rx keeps your oil cleaner longer. Any dirt, contaminants, all go to filter.
I do not see any sludge in the oil. I have never pulled out the valve cover though. During the change although during the rinse phases I did see the oil coming out much darker than usual
The oil coming out darker after the rinse phase is just further proof that Auto-Rx works, I observed the same thing and poured the oil from my oil filter into a clear glass jar and it was definetly dark, it was probably by products that were released during the rinse phase.
We are using 4 oz of ARX in my sister's 2000 Sienna minivan 3.0L V6 for the maintenace dose since this engine falls into the category of sludge-prone engines that Toyota had for several years. Plus when you look down into the oil fill(cannot see very far), it looks pretty nasty there. Hopefully it's a lot cleaner down in the areas that have had contact with previous ARX cycles on this engine.
We treated the engine with ARX twice immediately when they bought the van since it was over 100k miles. Interestingly, they are now using Maxlife 5W-30 for 6 month oil changes or 7000 miles and could not be happier. The engine and trans are now the last of their worries. Recently the ac system went out (compressor) and the exhaust system had to be replaced. I think that the salt and rust will claim this vehicle before it has any major mechanical issues there in Cleveland OH.
