Brent Is Back ( Today At Least)

I just wanted to report that I am at the library posting this, my  Internet provider at home is Comcast and we are having a problem. Everytime I try to log in it says Internet Provider banned. The comcast guy thinks there is a problem with there wiring outside. If any one needs to PM me the best place is BITOG since I can log in there, I go by C3PO on BITOG. The El Camino is running great, just put in a new radiator and a gear reduction starter, as long as the weather is nice, meaning no rain or temperatures down near 20 degrees I will still be driving this car. I finished a rinse phase and I am doing another rinse, meaning that I just have dino oil in there for now.

To be on the safe side I have been changing oil filter's at 1000 miles, I plan on driving another 2000 miles before going on the Maintenance Dose. My issues with the coolant gauge were my own fault as I had slowly had a radiator that was leaking. I put in a new 1, this time it was just a plain $100.00 radiator that was a direct fit, no more expensive radiators for me. The temp stays right at 180 degrees, the oil temp is right at 200 to 205 degrees, the trans temp as measured by the torque converter is 160 degrees.

I also had my valve seals on the passenger side replaced, so no more burning smell of oil on startup, the leak at the rear main seal area is almost gone, guess Auto-Rx is slowly washing away any liquified crud, The oil in the pan still looks good, it is just the oil I dump from the oil filter that is dark with liquified crud.

I wanted to post this to you guys so you would not think I was abandoning everyone, its just that I cannot log in at home and put my responses on here. I hope everyone has a good day. Brent

Brent,

Glad to here the Camino is live and well. Wish the folks at GM would reintroduce a new El Camino. To me I would much rather trade my Siverado for a Camino, than a Colorado or Canyon.

Richone, you are in luck because in late 2009 Pontiac is bringing back the El Camino, just type in 2010 Pontiac El Camino. I think they are going to call it the Ute.

Also, the Comcast guys were over at the house for 5 hours today, so hopefully by tonite, maybe, just maybe I can Log In from home. All is going well with my El Camino that has 364,000 miles on it. I plan on changing the oil tonite. I am still going to wait a while before going on the Maintenance Dose, I just want to make sure I have rinsed all of the junk and liquified crud in to the oil filter.

I want to thank Frank for calling me a valuable contributor, but what is even more valuable is what Frank's product has done for:

1) My Engine
2) My Transmission
3) My Powersteering

Since Auto-Rx has done such a great job for my engine, transmission, and powersteering, I am not going to stop there.

I am doing Auto-Rx in my Differential per the instructions for the Differential Application on the Auto-Rx site. I will post back after 1000 miles, when at that time I will have drained the Differential Fluid.

Been reading about your 305 el camino for a while and am thoroughly impressed. I had a 78 caprice with the 305 with 210K miles and sub par maintenance, but it was a great car none the less.

Panthermike, you probably had a single exhaust on that car.

1) Stock 145 horsepower
2) Added true dual exhaust and shorty headers, about 197 horsepower
3) Aftermarket intake manifold with no EGR, about 217 horsepower
4) No more stock clutch fan, less drag on engine
5) No A/C, so no belt, less drag
6) Aftermarket torsional dampner
7) Aftermarket carburetor and distributor
8) Aftermarket oil pan, with trap door, crank scraper, windage tray, oil pan baffle
9) No smog pump, no belt so less drag on engine

The horsepower numbers from items: 1,2,3, were taken from a magazine article, 4 through 9, I am not sure about.

Auto-Rx also helped out a lot too. As you can see I have done quite a few things on this car.

That's pretty cool. Mine was a single exhaust and had no modifications other than cat removed(weighed about 25 pounds), and a flowmaster single chamber. I painted it, interior was butt ugly, but that car always got me around no problems.

Wish I had known about ARX back then, that car had some nasty deposits!
