I have a question about using Auto-RX in smaller engines. I just changed the oil in my 2-3 year old snowthrower and put in about 1 oz maintenance dose of Auto-RX. Is it safe to run this for the whole winter or is a maintenance dose not a good idea in small engines with no oil filter?
Also Frank if I may add this here. Auto-RX is a bit expensive and I have seen posts here about changing the bottle so it has the clear stripe and oz. markings on the bottle. I think it may be worthwhile. When I pour Auto-RX into a measuring cup not all of it will come out of the cup and so I probably waste a bit of it as I wipe out the cup with paper towel. I was thinking that this minor waste over time adds up and so if the bottle had the markings on it that would save some waste of the product. Just curious if you, Frank have looked into the cost difference of the different bottles. Thanks.
Thanks for the quick reply TurboJim. I will take that into consideration about using a dedicated measuring cup and then putting it into a plastic bag. Any thoughts as to the other part of my question regarding small engines?
I did some testing on my 11HP Briggs Stratton riding lawnmower about a year ago the oil tank holds 1qt of oil after the cleaning I dumped the oil and put fresh in also 1oz of Auto-Rx and continued to run for the normal oil changes this works for me just make sure you dont add more than 1oz of ARX per qt of oil or it will foul your plug. There is no rinse phase on lawnmowers hope this helps you out.
I think that 1 ounce of Auto-Rx in small engines is beneficial for the following reasons:
1) They are air cooled so you want oil getting everywhere. 2) The oil needs to cool and lube a small engine. 3) Any crud in there will make it run hot and wear out parts. 4) Using this product means not having to repair it or take it to the shop for engine work.
Hi, i have a Honda G200 which is about 10 years old and is burning some oil. I can visually see it as i push the throttle and can ''smell'' it as well. will Auto-rx help possibly sealing piston rings?

I ran an ARX treatment on my 2001 Honda Harmony II mower a while ago and there is no doubt in my mind it benefited from such treatment; the oil was notably darker after about 12 hours of use than normal. Good advice on 1 oz/quart, I think I used more than that (maybe 3 oz/quart) and it did foul the plug (but it needed replacing anyway).
