This Ram has some sludge issues. It belongs to a bud of mine. The "quick change" folks he took it to didnt (in my opinion) completely drain the oil at change times. The filter was so heavy when I took it off it must have not been changed out as well. The oil was thick as molasses. Only about 3100 miles after previous "oil change".I changed the oil adding M Myst oil and ran it for about 600 miles. The oil was coal black and thick.Changed it again with the same MMO and C-GTX 5W-30 -ran another 800 miles and changed it again.Oil was dark but not so thick. I have now done it 3 times in 2700 miles. The oil is now clean for the first time after running 300 miles. The previous changes the oil was coal black within 300 miles. I still have some start up lifter noise. The camshafts in the 4.7 are tubular in design using the tubular design to carry oil to the assembly. I am sure there is still gunk in the motor.I feel the sludge is still restricting oil flow through the camshafts.  This is a really nice truck and I hope the Auto-Rx will do the trick. I ordered today and will update the posting. I know alot of complaints have been posted about sludge in the 4.7. P.S. Early in my shade tree years I tried the solvent type flush to rid a motor of a little sludge.I followed directions and spun the main bearing in 10 seconds.Engine ran fine, just wanted to clean some sludge out. When I tore into the engine it had done major damage to the crank and cam bearings. SWORE NEVER TO USE SOLVENTS AGAIN. If Auto-Rx works like I have read about.I will be impressed.Hope this will add new life to the Ram.

'Heavy Sludge Application'

Use thin basic Mineral Engine Oil and no addivites like M.M.O. other than Auto-RX.

You are likely to have to change the Engine Oil Filter more often to get rid of sludges and keep your eye on any leaks from there as it's could fills up sooner than you think.

Be patience and your reward will come to you. smile

We recently reformatted application for sludge application . please print it out and for heavy sludge your going to need to do two complete applications. When done start Auto-Rx Maintenance Plan. Stay with a decent group 111
oil eg. Castrol GTX or similar. Oil for the Auto-Rx Heavy Sludge Application can be Castrol GTX also or WalMart .

Could you please post more information about your experience with solvents. I would like to post them on bitog and Auto-Rx Web Site.

Well Ive been away for a while and I have to say Auto RX is fantastic! The Dodge was in bad shape and it took 5, yes 5 oil changes within 5k miles to get the job done. It also took until now for the major tick to be almost gone. I am a amazed. This oil change is on about 900 miles and the oil is still clean. The dip stick was thin coated with black residue to the point you couldnt read the fill level. It is now very easy to see just like it needs to be. I have told several people about this and I think most doubt me until they hear the Dodge now. My brother has purchased Auto RX for his cars and trucks. I still have product left and when its gone I will be making my order. Thanks Auto RX for an exceptional product.
