Full synthetic for rinse?

Disregarding the cost, is it OK to use a full synthetic oil (group 4) for the rinse after a 3,000 mile clean?

One other quick question, is the German castrol syntec 0W30 a group 3 or 4 synthetic?

I would imagine for best results, use a group III, I think the German Castrol is a Group IV.

Any reason you want to use the group iv over a group III? The group III's work perfectly well for clean/rinse.

Group III or a cheap dino oil is best for the Rinse Phase, Group IV and V will not work well since this will hinder releasing contaniments to the oil filter that were loosened during the Clean Phase.

Thanks thats the answer I was looking for. I'll go to a true synthetic after the rinse which won't be for a while since i'm only a few hundred miles into the clean phase (my 2nd cycle of auto-rx)

So the 0W30 German Castrol syntec is a true group 4 oil unlike the rest of the syntec line up.

I think i'm going to order up another bottle to use for maintainance after I finish this clean/rinse cycle.

GC is a POE base stock, iirc. I would not use it with Auto-rx. It's a fine oil. There's no reason to use such expensive oil over such a short duration. There are plenty of potent and durable fluids available that will work well over 3000 miles that should satisfy any need in terms of performance ..even if they don't have all the alpha-numeric notations that the Euro-Alloy specify.

Pennzoil Platinum
Rotella T Synthetic
Even a variety of conventional diesel oils will work well in just about any engine over that duration of service.
