1.8 Turbo Passat - Stop Engine Light

Last night, My 1.8 Turbo Passat, 116,000 miles - Stop Engine Light flashed on for a second then off for 5 minutes, then on for a second then off for 5 minutes as I carefully drove home at 3 mph, then on for a second then off for 5 minutes into the driveway (about 10 miles total).  This morning I drove 1/2 mile to indy shop where they're changing oil and adding 18 ounces of AutoRX and oversize filter.  I asked mechanic to do a  PCV valve change and oil pressure check. He said he looked up the engine online and there isn't a PCV valve on this engine????

I did an RX clean/rinse about 3 or 4 years ago and have been adding 2.5 oz RX to every Dino 3000 mile oil change since.

During this clean/rinse cycle, what should I do if Stop Engine light flashes on for a second then off for 5 minutes ??

How MANY MILES  and HOW fast can I drive the car until I'm somewhat assure that I can take it on longer - like 30 mile - trips?

The PCV system is rather complex on the 1.8T but yes it does include a PCV valve.  Here is a good write up on how to service it -  http://www.passatworld.com/forums/68-b5-garage/328467-diy-1-8t-atw-pcv-overhaul-injector-cleaning-oil-gasket-detailed-pictures.html

I should add that my Passat is a 2003 1.8 Turbo wagon, not the 2000 in the link. I'll take the PCV link to my mechanic. I have had intermittent oil/gas exhaust odors in the car for the last year or so, which according to the link can be a PCV issue. The mechanic has often checked for exhaust leaks and found none.
