If I read correctly, then in a months time you would be driving 1558 miles per month commuting to work. And you are adding between a half quart and a whole quart of oil to keep the sump full. This could be due to sticky rings, particularly the oil control rings and intermediate rings being bound up so as to not working at 100% in controlling the oil film on the cylinder walls, thus some entering the combustion chamber. Auto-Rx would certainly help free up the piston rings. Perhaps you might also want to check or replace the PCV valve on this motor. A sticky or under performing PCV valve can cause some oil burning in a couple of ways.
First if the PCV is stuck, then positive pressure is trapped inside the motor and will force oil past the rings and also valve seals. Also unburned fuel that passes by the piston rings can not be routed back through the intake for a reburn, and as a result your oil might become fuel diluted or thinned out, which can lead to consumption. Auto-Rx and ring pack cleansing can help the rings seal better against the cylinder walls, minimizing fuel dilution and oil control. Of course Auto-Rx can not help much if the piston rings are worn out. At 149 K on the odometer, you would expect some wear. But for the motor to suddenly consume some oil, cleaning would likely correct. The Corolla motors used very short skirted piston in some years. This means that the piston rings are very closely spaced. This makes them susceptible to getting bound together with oxidized oil deposits. It also makes them prone to more wear at the upper and lower end of travel.
