Hello all, I just read up on the Auto RX product and it does peak my interest. I have an 05 Matrix XR AWD with about 48,000 as we speak on the odo. I do my own oil changes every 3,000 miles with a Toyota Filter and Castrol GTX 5W-30 non-synthetic oil. So far so good, but I would like to have the engine be cleaned out a bit and kept in great condition internally. Aside from the normal work and maintenance I also try to put a bottle of Valvoline Fuel System Cleaner as well. I do have a few ?'s though if you don't mind.
1) Is the Valvoline Fuel System Cleaner really helping me keep my injectors and manifold clean?
2) Auto RX says to add directly to the oil sump, I'm assuming this would mean just filling it in to the Oil Fill Cap?
3) How often should you add a bottle to your car?
4) Any other Matrix/Vibe owners out there with experience?
1) I'm sure you're not hurting anything using it. I've heard Chevron's fuel injector cleaner is pretty potent.
2) Yes, you just add it to your oil. I'd say add it to a fresh oil and filter change. You add 2 oz. per liter of oil in your engine. So if your engine takes 4 liters/quarts you add 8 oz of Auto-RX (12 oz. per bottle).
3) You only need to do the full out treatment process once. Especially since your car has low mileage. But it is recommended that you add 2 oz of Auto-RX with every oil change after to keep it clean.
I am not a Matrix owner, but it is highly likely that the motor in your unit is also used in other models made by the same manufacturer. What motor is in the Matrix?
The motor is shared with the Pontiac Vibe (non-GT), Celica (non-GTS), and Corolla (non XRS). It is the 1.8L 1ZZ engine. 130hp rated. The 2ZZ motor is the 180hp version that I do not have.
