I prefer "dino" oils ( now called Group 111 Oils) with Auto-Rx only because it is my personal belief to save money and sacrifce nothing. Auto-Rx & non synthetic oil IMO does this.
I have been using castrol sytec 5w40 or 5w50. They are supposed to be synthetic, but been called group III oils. Are you syaing they are not synthetic, but conventional oil/dino oil???

I understand that many of the OTC Synthetic Oils are really a highly refined Dino?
My questions is will the ARX Maintenance dose work better with a conventional Dino (i.e. Castrol GTX, Pennzoil, Valvoline) or should I spend the extra cash for an OTC Sythetic (i.e. Syntec, PP) or perhaps better yet a Full Synthetic (i.e. Amsoil, Redline)?
I am fearful that I am going to spend a lot of cash on a premium oil when Frank's product actually performs best with my good old CASTROL GTX.
It is not so much a money issue. I just don't want to waste my ARX in a host oil it does not perform well (BEST) in.
What is the best combo (performance) ARX+Dino, ARX+Group III Synthetic, ARX+Full Synthetic?????
I have actually been considering using a synthetic blend from Schaeffer's oil. It is a blend of Group II+ and Group IV/V base oils. I think my terminology is correct.
My concern is that many of the Group IV/V oils have the ability to cling to the metal. If I understand correctly this is how the esters in ARX work also.
My concern is that the advantages of the Group IV/V oils will actually disable the benefits of the ARX maintenance dose or perhaps the ARX will disable the benefits of the group IV/V base oil.
I am glad Frank is a chemist. He will be able to sort this out.
Yep, it doesn't matter if you use Synthetic or Dino, but in the brochure I received when ordering my product it states to use Dino for maximum benefits/results, not only during the application but afterwards. It states that if you want to maintain the benefits, just use a maintenance dosage after completion.
I am finishing my rinse phase this month. I plan on using Platinum 10W-30 for the rest of the summer with a 3 oz. MD and then in the fall switch to GC with a MD. I plan on getting a UOA for both to compare.
