980 miles into cleaning phase using Formula Shell 5w30 and a Fram filter and my '96 Mazda B4000 with 95,xxx miles used a quart of oil. I topped off with another quart of Formula Shell. My question, after using this much oil during the cleaning phase will effect the performance of Auto RX during the rest of the phase?
You should be ok if you have to add another quart of oil use 2oz of Auto-Rx that would put you through the 1500 mile cleaning phase. Thank you for using Auto-Rx.
Perhaps Frank need to clear this confusion up once and for all? There seems to be conflicting advice given on this question. According to many of Frank's posts over at BITOG (and on the old ARX forums), you do NOT need to add ARX during the clean phase. Rather, simply replace the oil that your car has consumed and keep driving. Here is a link to one of his comments on this issue:
This is my preferance I know what Frank reccommends there again it would depend of how dirty your engine is I am not disagreeing with you just my imput. Thank you for joining the forum.

No problem. I have no opinion on the issue. All I know is that the multiple answers to this question are VERY CONFUSING. As a result, many people aren't sure what is proper procedure on this issue. I just feel that it would be very helpful for everybody if the people behind ARX were uniform in their answers.
On an unrelated note, I was a member of the old ARX forum. Its too bad that the wealth of information in the archives of the old forum is gone. Is there any way to bring that information back in a special archive for folks to search?
