What benefit from using A-rx...

in high mileage (178k) 1993 bonneville 3800?  This car runs absolutely perfect, No oil consumption whatsoever, Still has plenty of power and can reach 30mpg on the highway. Would I be better off leaving well enough alone or could I see some kind of benefit from using the product.  I honestly don't see how it could do any better, But you never know.

What is the chance the ring packs are full of carbon ? I would say 100% your engine would thank you.

Frank, I'm not doubting your product in any way I know it works very good. I was just curious as to what benefits I would see considering my engine is in pretty good shape for it's age.

What kind of compression do you get? How is that different from say 20,000 miles when the car was pretty new?

Gas engines on average do give out at some point, usually around the 150k mile mark these days. They usually give out because of metal wear or gaskets. In most cases your engine would seam 100% fine but then it just dies to natural processes. I believe Autorx is designed to extend the life of an engine by treating the issues that degrade ingine parts. I think your saying that because your car runs good and doesn't use oil that it is in prestine condition. I think that is a false assuption. Any gas vehicle with 178k is in it's twilight years, probably even if you use Autorx. However, ARX will treat the symptoms that usually lead to the end of a life cycle of an engine. It will clean slowly and liqufy sludge and/or carbon. It is soemthing amazing to watch as you see your dipstick get the tiny black specs from a Autorx cleaning. They are almost like tiny ashes in some cases. Both engines I used it on had over 140 k, and both got slow intense cleanings. Now, both vehicles oil stay amber much longer than before the cleaning.

Frank is saying that a vehicle that is that age will have dirty ring packs regardless of how well it's driving. You could leave them alone and maybe oy maybe not get the same life out of your engine. However, if you think there's a benefit to having them cleaned only Autorx will do it safely out of the products I've heard about. It's non solvent and as far as I know all other engine flushes are solvent based. IE the dislodge contaminats rather that liqufy them slowly.

This is mainly just concetrating on how it benefits an engine, but I had a great experience with my transmission too. Transmissions also have a life span, and some would say they usually go out much sooner than an engine. most of the time it's just a stupid sticky cluth that leads to tranny failure or extreme hard shifting. I actually have had other products also help this in other vehicles, but I've been told it was a clorine/lubricant that helped that particular transmission, meaning yeah it helped but usually you can do damage in the long run. Anyhow, my transmission story is I added it to a sticky and hard shifting tranny, and it fixed it 100%. I left the Autorx in for 5k miles and it still is holding up fine. I know these guys recommend flushing it, but I've been a little busy and just haven't felt like it. Autorx works and that's why so many people support the use of it.

To use it or not to use it? All I can say is it's your choice, Autorx may not extend the life of your engine and anyone who says different is pulling your leg. However, someday that engine will give and it may be due to something that autorx could have treated. This is the case with my transmission, it literally saved me $3200 for a rebuild, and that's personally why I'm exceited about it. Shelby=Autorx user for life.

I never said my engine was in pristine condition, I said it was in good condition considering it's age . Most cars are not so lucky.

I disagree, most cars with proper maintenance will make it well beyond 200k. I have a 1995 caravan With the original engine (3.0 never opened up) 287k runs perfect. Now it could literally die any day now but it continues to go and go.

But if my car was to die today I would consider it had a good life, And then I would drop another engine in and continue to go.

That's great dude, I wish you continued success on getting great life out of your engines. I too believe if you maintain them well they will get more than average. Consumer reports says the "average" car engine life is 150k. Mind you this is just average, many people get over 300k and that's great for them. Many people get less than 100k and that's a bummer for them. Head gaskets just have a mind of their own sometimes. My person mainteance plan includes Autorx, but it's going to be a long long time before I know if it gains me luck like you have, because I just bought a brand new Truck. I'm going to stay on the ARX maintenance plan with synthetic oil from day one so I never have to worry about doing a full treatment. I figured I'd start after my second oil change as they don't recommend synthetics on a brand new motor. I'm going to change oil every 5k with Mobil 1 and 3 ounces ARX. I figure it's going to take me twenty or more years to figure out if I get a benefit from it. See me in 2027 and we'll chat:)

My mother had an 88 and a 96 Bonneville.  They were great cars-especially the 96 model.  That being said, I'm sure there's bound to be some benefit to cleaning up an older engine like that.

Clayton I would try only one car first also if the additive cleans carbon off his Bonnevilles rings won't it start burning oil and so on I have heard that cleaning carbon built up on the rings and cylinder walls it might start using oil. What do you think? Thank you!

Well I think I won a free bottle so I'm gonna get to try it out, I just haven't decided if I'm gonna use it in the bonneville or my new to me truck which might benefit more. But I'll decide before it gets here.
