What oil after treatment?

I have a Volvo V40, it is 2.0 liter gas engine and 190000 km on odometer.

Here in Poland I use 10w40 weight oil, so I thought that after clean and rinse phases I'll try 10w40 MaxLife (synthetic blend). But I read that high mileage oils are not recommended as they swell seals. On the other hand I've heard a lot of good things said about MaxLife.

Do you think it's good choice? Or should I stick with 'normal' (not HM) oil?

I have inquired about an oil to use after cleaning several times. The consensus seems to be that virtually every oil will work better due to its ability to better lubricate a clean engine.

I have also heard HM oils are not always the best option. My understanding is that a quality Dino (Castrol GTX in my case) with an A-RX MD will provide outstanding long term results.

My intention is to stick with Castrol GTX + A-RX MD after completing the cleaning phase.

I would use what the manufacture recommends.

I'll be going back to Mobil 1, with a maintenance dose.

x2, high quality synthetic oils are the best thing to protect an engine.  it's piece of mind, they simply do not break down as fast as conventional oils.  No matter what your OCI was with conventional, it will be much longer with synthetic.  It pays for itself plus you have to do the task of chnaging your oil or getting it changed less often.  Frank has always said his product works with synthetic, it just takes longer.  Perfect for maintance dosing.
