We believe the new application for cleaning (2500 miles) and the new application for rinsing ( 3000 miles) will clean so throughly that your power band will reflect the total lubrication your engine is now getting. MPG also..
Now taking it to the final step by going on the Auto-Rx maintenance plan you will keep the perfromance & MPG gains without ever having to Auto-Rx your complete engine again.
Frank, went and got some cheap Wal-Mart oil filters, I am at 2700 miles, power tonite felt a little off, changed oil filter, oil that came out was a bright gold but filter was almost as heavy as last one, some rinsing action still going on, what I found out about the Mobil 1 synthetic fiber filter is that all the pleats are the same size so the filter can load up faster, whereas the cheap oil filters have wider clearances and they are not as uniform meaning some pleats will filter down to 25 microns while others filter down to 40 or 50 microns, I got this info from an Amsoil dealer, I think my engine is still realising junk and that my thermostat issues had nothing to do with my filter issues because car is getting up to temp quick and still releasing junk, for the Maintenance Dose I am going to run Amsoil's Group III Synthetic for 3000 mile oil changes and probably change the oil filter halfway through, I will probably do 2 oil changes and then go to Amsoil 100% Synthetic, but I will have to keep an eye on the filters, tonite with the oil that I drained out of the filter looking so clean, I think I am coming to the end of all the junk coming out of the engine, tomorrow is going to be a sunny day so I will do some more driving and keep everyone posted.
Well, I hit the 3000 mile mark tonite, came home and took the cheap filter off, it was just as heavy as the previous one, shook the oil filter upside down and every way I could and there was oil inside filter sloshing around, went out 2 hours later and the oil had not drained from inside filter and was still sloshing around, oil that came out of filter when I dumped it was a little darker than previous oil, 300 miles and oil filter was maxed out, I am going to drive on this oil for another 300 miles and see what happens as I have another quart of dino oil and another cheap filter, I am not ready to dump in Group III synthetic which is $5.50 a quart versus $1.55 for the dino oil, this dino oil is doing a great job of rinsing my engine out, power is still good, will have to check oil filter tomorrow morning when all oil is out to check how heavy it is because even though it is just as heavy as previous filter it is not an exact comparison because there is still oil in filter, any body please let me know if you have had this situation with oil sloshing inside filter, maybe Auto-Rx works to well, , with me continuing beyond 3000 mile rinse is not saying that the 3000 mile rinse is to short, everyone needs to remember that this car is a V8, which means maybe twice as much junk inside as opposed to a 4 cylinder and 1/4 more than a 6 cylinder, those are just my thoughts, car is getting up to 195 degrees quickly and staying where it should be, also with 355,000 miles car has about almost twice the mileage or more than other cars on this forum, Turbo Jim, Frank, or anyone else please give me your thoughts and I will keep everyone posted.
Brent regarding your filters (retaining oil and perhaps contaminants) think you need to resolve if your finished with application? why not change the oil (use a drive every day oil with a decent filter) and see if this scenario keeps on. Also change your PCV Valve. If you change your oil every 3000 miles than it is in reality another rinse. Go on the Auto-Rx Maintenance Plan. Let this engine keep cleaning while it gives you good transportation..
Frank, I will get a new PCV either Sunday or Monday and go on the maintenance plan, can I use the Amsoil Group IV, or should I use the Amsoil Group III, or just a dino oil. I think you may be right about the PCV because I did have a few drops of oil leaking and the PCV had come off about a week ago, checked the oil filter I took off on Friday it was just as heavy as previous one but the one before that was the heaviest, car still has great power. Another thing I am noticing is that when I take the oil filter off I have a filtermag on the oil filter and it is very hard to get off, maybe in rinsing any junk that is going to filter is also trapping metal particules that were in engine that was attached to junk going on the filters, I am going to order a tool that cuts open oil filters and inspect all of them and take photos, what does it mean if filter is loading up but oil dumped from filter is clean, how often should I change the PCV every 6 months, every 2 months or less because of all the junk being released by filter, hope to here from you soon, Frank.
In your particular case stay with AMSOIL Group 111 for next couple of oil changes than go to synthetic if you still wish. i am very interested in a how new PCV valve effects engine mileage and performance at this point. How often to change it I really don't know. Can you disengage filtermag ? Start new oil application with Auto-Rx maintenance dose for 3000 miles.
The results you get from this application will be your baseline and think you will finally be over so many filter changes.
Yes, Frank I can disengage the filtermag, I have to use a hammer and screwdriver, I will get a new PCV even though one on there now shakes like it is new. I will be getting some Amsoil Group III as this cheaper than what I can get Pennzoil Platinum,( have heard that Penzoil Platinum might now be Group IV), thanks for posting so quickly.
Frank, put on new PCV, stopped by Wal-Mart and picked up there new car formula Super Tech synthetic oil for $2.97 a quart, please tell me this is Group III Synthetic, I would think that since it is so cheap that it must be Group III oil, have not put it in yet, will wait to here from you.
Frank, will be changing oil tonite and going on Maintenance Dose, will let you know how oil and filter look, have an extra filter and will be picking up some more filters tomorrow.
Frank, I am very happy to report that I am now on the Maintenance Dose, oil came out a dark gold color, oil filter was light, no oil sloshing inside, this was the lightest oil filter to date, counted all my oil filters since starting Auto-Rx, I used 17 oil filters, all of them were heavy except for the last one, will be weighing a brand new oil filter, maybe a pound or so then I will weigh all of my filters then subtract the weight of the filter dry to see how many pounds of crud Auto-Rx got out of my engine, all of a sudden driving home tonite car felt incredibly smooth, I felt I had gotten the last of the crud to the oil filter, and when I added the Wal-Mart Super Tech Synthetic I could actually here it pouring down into the engine, I think I started this process in mid May, I am estimating on average I was changing oil filters every 10 days, through the whole process I added 17 Quarts of extra oil for the filters that I changed, for the 2 rinse phases I changed the oil halfway through, I figure 36 Quarts of oil plus 17 Quarts for the extra filter changes, so around 53 Quarts of oil between mid May and November 5th, some people change there oil once in 6 months and only use a few quarts, what I have learned is that anyone with a high mileage engine better invest in a lot of oil and filters to do this process the right way, I think I changed my oil filter for the first time at 900 miles, then it was down hill from there with filter changes between 300 to 600 miles, the first rinse phase the oil filters were heavy, but they were the heaviest in the second rinse phase, all oil filters in clean phase were a little lighter than the filters in the rinse phase, if I did not pay attention to how the car ran I would not have changed the filters as much, I feel that during the rinse phase the oil filters should be changed at 500 to 1000 miles so that junk is not floating around the engine, 17 filters times $4.00= $68.00 53 Quarts of Oil times $1.78=$94.34 so oil and filters it came to about $163.00, with that amount of money you can buy 9 bottles of Auto-Rx and have enough to do the maintenance dose with 2 ounces each time for a total of 54 times. With an oil change every 5000 miles that comes out to 270,000 miles, I don't even want to think about how many times I ran to Wal-Mart or Advance Auto, do not go through what I went through if you have a new car do the Maintenance Dose, will let everyone know soon how much filters weighed and how the Maintenance Dose is going, and special thanks to Frank Miller THE ENGINE SAVER.
Brent my apology it is 3 ounces for engines with sludge and 2 ounces for engines just dirty. I really feel your engine in the EL Camino with mileage over 300000 miles should run 3 ounces. The Auto-Rx Maintenace Dose will keep cleaning over the oil life till the next change and think you should take advantage of 3 ounce dose. Brent believe you have had one of the highest mileage engines we ever cleaned.
Feel sure you can feel the pick up and smoothness in this engine now.
Frank, now that I am on the Maintenance Dose the car does feel smoother, it almost feels like a new engine, through the whole process the car seemed to like having Auto-Rx in there like it did during the clean phases, now that I am on Maintenance Dose the car seems to like having the 3 ounces in there, car is running a little cooler and it seems to like the Wal-Mart Super Tech Synthetic Oil, car has great pickup, took a friend for a ride in my car, he does not believe this engine has 355,000 miles, he says that someone must have stuck another engine in while I was asleep one night, I remember you once said to me it was better to have the cheapest oil and a Maintenance Dose of Auto-Rx than to just have a very expensive synthetic oil in there alone, I tend to agree with you on this point, I will say that through this whole process I had my doubts, but I have been proven wrong and I am glad that I was wrong and my engine is much happier, I also put Auto-Rx in my power steering pump and will be draining out fluid soon, also when I park the car and shut it off there is no ticking noise that you get in some cars when you turn it off, I am going to enjoy driving on the Maintenance Dose for a while and the only thing you will here about filters is when I weigh all my old filters, talk to you soon Frank.
I am happy to report that all is going well, no strange noises or anything unusual, remember in order to get the best results you must follow Frank's instructions.
