I just placed my order for some Auto-Rx after reading the numerous positive threads on the BITOG site regarding this product.
I have 2 cars that will be using the Auto-Rx in the near future.
Vehicle #1 - my daily driver - 2002 Subaru WRX 2.0L turbo with almost 80,000 miles. I purchased new. Always received prompt oil changes at the dealer. First 50,000 miles or so, it was getting Agip 5W-30. After that I switched over to M1 5W-30. I really don't have a way to get a look at the insides of this engine due to the boxer layout without pulling a valve cover but I don't think it could be gunked up too much. Anybody here have this engine? I'm not sure what would be the best oil to run for the cleaning/rinse phases. I know dino oil seems to be better than synthetic when using this product.
Vehicle #2 - my fun car - 1968 Dodge Polara - 6.3L (383ci) V-8. Has about 126,000 miles on it. Not sure what oil was used previously outside of it being 10W-40 conventional. I recently switched to Rotella 15W-40 for the better anti-wear add pack. I did change the valve cover gaskets recently. No real sludge but there was definitely some varnish in plain sight. I also changed the oil/filter about 250 miles ago. Question #1 - Is this oil ok for the cleaning/rinse phases? Question #2 - Can I just dump in the 12oz bottle since I'm early in the OCI or would I need to change oil/filter again?
Sorry about the long post but I want to make sure I get my Auto-Rx experience off to a good start!
On the Dodge it will be ok to add the ARX. and not change the filter you only have 250 miles on it. Are you planning on doing 2 cleanings? if so I would save the the 2oz on the next cleaning if not save it for the maintenance dose.
Well according to what I'm seeing on the website, I should probably only use 10oz since the capacity of the crankcase is 5qt on the Dodge. Not sure if I'm going to try 1 or 2 treatments. Looks like 2 treatments are recommended for my application since the engine has 126,000 on it. That may take a while since I only use the car sparingly.
