When I finished Auto-Rx in my transmission, I drained out 6 quarts from my pan, the fluid was dark, had to go somewhere soon so I put 6 quarts of new fluid and changed that and the filter when I came home, fluid was still fairly dark, so I added 6 more quarts, drove a few days and drained some more, this time it was not as dark, you may be asking why I did not disconnect cooler line and pump out fluid, with my transmission when you put fluid in some goes into the cooler lines and some goes to the torque converter, there is a process that connects to the trans pump but this procedure cost almost $200.00 and requires 20 quarts of trans fluid, so far I have used about 16 quarts in a 12 quart capacity transmission, how many more trans pan drops am I going to have to do, transmission is shifting great, there was nothing in the old filter, I am wondering if with 355,000 miles Auto-Rx released so much stuff that probably a flush would not get everything out as cleaning may still be going on, have not had time to bring the car in to do a flush and removing trans lines would make a big mess in my Dad's garage, has anyone done a series of pan drops meaning taking off the drain plug and draining fluid, because it is a larger pan I can almost drain 6 quarts of fluid out, I dont trust the T-Tech machines in my area because I do not know what type of fluid might get mixed up in the machine and have heard of stories about the machines dislodging metal pieces through the trans that gets caught up where it should not be, I can buy a lot of trans fluid for $200.00, any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Brent we have sent many people to Jiffy Lube- Goodyear-Shell Quick Oil Change to have there transmissions cleaned ( after Auto-Rx Treatment) without any problem you might want to GOOGLE T-Tech and pose your questions. For approximately $99.00 you have a clean transmission filled with new transmission fluid in less than 45 minutes. What is important is that you find quick lube you can feel comfortable with.
Frank, what I have been doing is draining the trans fluid, I usually drain the pan and add 6 quarts of new fluid then drive around for a few days, so far I have gone through 24 quarts of trans fluid, each time I have changed fluid it is less of a dark red color, I got the trans fluid for about $2.50 a quart so I am out about $60.00, a t-tech flush would be about $100.00, I am going to keep doing this until the fluid is clear, I have read that a T-Tech does not get out all the old fluid because when the new fluid is introduced it mixes with the old fluid and there is still fluid in the torque converter, so when you are doing a T-Tech it mainly flushes from the pan out to the cooler lines because when the fluid passes through the transmission some of it goes to the torque converter and some goes to the cooler lines, I think that I had auto-rx in the trans for maybe 4,000 miles, the groaning sound that I had is gone which makes me believe that auto-rx released so much junk that the transmission was making noise pumping the junk through the transmission, on the 1st trans drain the car had less of a sound afterwards, on the 2nd drain it was a lot less, on the 3rd drain you could not here it at all after I added new fluid, I will be driving the car tommorow after the 4th drain, I have done this same thing with my power steering but a little different by syphoning 16 ounces of fluid out at a time and adding new fluid, each time I change fluid it is less and less dark, power steering feels like it is brand new, my thinking on this method is that even though I am adding new fluid in power steering and trans cleaning is still going on, I have read where people have had a T-Tech done and the fluid is still dark later on, as I mentioned before when I dropped the pan the first time there was absolutely nothing in the trans filter, further proof that Auto-Rx liquifies everything, but the Filtermag magnet in my pan was covered with a greyish metal sludge, I would recommend to anyone that does Auto-Rx in there transmission to visit the Filtermag website and stick one of those magnets on the bottom of there transmission pan, most transmission filters only filter down to 100 microns whereas the Filtermag magnet traps down to 2 microns, better than a product called Magnefine that filters down to 25 microns and is placed inside your cooler lines and has to be replaced every 30,000 miles and costs $25.00, the Filtermag magnet is a 1 time thing for $45.00, it is so powerful that when I pried it off my old transmission pan it took me almost 30 seconds to pry it off, it is that powerful.
