A Waste of Product?

I have one bottle left of the two that I boiught to treat the engine on my '95 Formula.  before I could even complete the first cleaning cycle, the tranny died on Christmas Eve as I was heading to my brother's house, 90 miles away.  I don't have any gear above 2nd or third, and I need to drive the car home tomorrow.  Is it worth it to put some Auto-RX in the trans and hope it works a miracle on the long drive home, or would that be throwing money away?

I would put it in, I think I read on BITOG someone having the same problem and Auto-Rx saved the transmission, is your transmission a manual or automatic, I am thinking you have a manual, how is the fluid, do you need to add some, I need more info as to the transmission type and how the fluid looks to give you a better idea.

It is an automatic. Trans level is at spec, but the fluid does have a burned smell and appears to contain metallic particles...not good.

If you gambeled you could not do any more harm and your only using 1/2 of a bottle. it might just get you home before you need a rebuilt transmission. Is Auto-Rx going to fix yoiur mechanical issues with your transmission "NO"

What type of automatic do you have, 700R4, 4L60, IF YOU DO GET IT REBUILT OR PUT ANOTHER TRANSMISSION IN, I would put in an external transmission filter that is basically an oil filter, do you drive the car hard, if so I would get the Amsoil ATF which is synthetic, as well as placing a magnet in your transmission pan or a Filtermag on the outside of the pan. Also B&M makes a nice transmission cooler, remember that 90% of transmission failures are due to heat.

Sounds to me that you're past the Auto Rx stage

I agree that I am past the Auto-RX stage. I believe that my 3-4 clutches are gone. But, I put a half bottle in the trans as a bit of insurance, and made it the 90 miles back home from my brother's house. Now, I just need to save enough money to install a rebuilt trans. What fun.
