Hello all I recently started using auto-Rx for the following reason.
I have a 2001 Volvo S60 2.4T (Turbo) with 72,000 miles on it. I normally have my oil changed on schedule between 3,000 and 5,000 miles. However recently I went longer and although the oil level wasn't very low it was quite watery.
After driving about 25 miles my message board read no oil pressure stop engine asap and the oil light came on. So I immediately panicked and stop at a service station and bought a quart of oil hoping this would solve the problem. It took less than a half a quart to bring the level to full. The next day I got an oil change thinking this would solve the problem but I continued to get the warning messages.
A Volvo mechanic who has his own repair facility checked the car by removing the oil cap when the warning was on to see if oil was being circulated which in his opinion it was. He noticed sludge under the filler cap and said I probably had a lot of sludge build up. His best guess without doing a pressure check was that my oil sensor was probably dirty from sludge and maybe pouring a coffee cup of gasoline or kerosene would help to possibly clean out the engine.
After doing research on Volvo forums I decided to try auto-rx. I ordered 2 bottles and printed out the sludge application instructions. So far I have driven 100 miles after application and I don't know if the car is going to make it to the 1250 filter change.
I know from the frequently asked questions that I can expect some engine noise however the engine is very noisy at this time. When I started it up today it sounds like their were slivers of metal inside. After driving 20 miles the no oil pressure stop asap warning stays on and now the check engine light is on plus the noise.
Do you guys think this engine is about to seize up any minute or is this normal.
This is what I would do, you need to change your PCV and check the hose, it might be a good idea to put in another bottle of Auto-Rx, the so called Double Dose, when I started Auto-Rx I had to change the filter at 900 miles, invest in some more oil filters, you may be going through a lot of them, another thing that I did was take the car out on the highway for some 50 to 60 mile runs, I think you will be fine, I did Auto-Rx at 343,000 miles, the sludge you are getting can be traced to a few things, bad PCV, driving the car very short distances, thermostat not working properly meaning that the engine is not getting up too the right temperature, Auto-Rx will eventually clean up your sensors. I advise you to please be patient as it will take time for everything to clear up. As far as the Double Dose I would post a private message to Frank to get his ideas, buy the cheapest oil filter's you can get because you will be using quite a few.
I too will advise you to "hang in there". I'd suggest sticking with the original plan (from the sound of things, I can't imagine what the "double dose" would loosen up), and changing the filter every 500 miles or so. Auto Rx takes time, and that is one of the properties that makes it safe.

At the last oil change Quaker State 5W-30 was used. I am at 290 miles into the application and I noticed that the no oil pressure warning hasn't come on, however the check engine light is still on.
There is still a loud noise either coming from the engine or oil pan that is hard to describe. Sounds like spinning metal bands or metal moving around. Engine runs very rough at idle. Sometimes cuts right off after starting. Hoping to reach the 1250 mark without any more problems so that I can change the filter.
