I had my 1st post about a month ago just before getting an oil change on my 98 Corrola which has been burning a lot of oil. I added the Auto -RX as recommended and just checked the oil level after about 600 miles and it's down already - I'll probably have to put another quart of oil in in the next week or so. My question. Do I add a bit of Auto Rx as I'm topping off the oil? If I have to add 3-4 quarts between changes would the Auto-Rx not also be diluted and then less effective? I'm assuming the the Auto-Rx gets burnt/lost at the same rate as regular oil - correct? I'm thinking of adding a couple of ounces of Auto-Rx with every quart I have to top up with.
As long as you don't let the oil level drop below the "add" mark on your dipstick you'll be fine. Save the remaining ARX for a 2nd application. Because you are buring so much oil currently you'll need to do a second treatment for best results.
sorry dont mean to hijack thread, but have very similar problem to me ,i have 1500 miles until finish rinse phase. change oils with qs 5w/30 , top off with pennzoils 5w/30 and now i just put 1 quart of havoline ds 5w/30, and now i burn so much oils and smoke , should i change the oils ?
Don,t add any Auto-Rx during rinse phase just keep topping of with whatever oil you want. I think you could have been way ahead of the game had you simply followed application, keep us posted.
Update on my 98 Corolla. Went through the 1st cleaning phase as recommended and got a bit concerned as it seemed that the engine was burning oil even quicker (topped up about 5 times in 5000kms). Got the oil change so now I'm into the 1st rinse phase and I was expecting more oil burning. Happily, I can report that after 1600kms (1000miles) my oil level is only down about 3/4 of a quart!!!! I'll continue with the rinse phase and go through another treatment cycle as recommended on your site for heavy oil burning. So far, I can say this is a definite improvement!!!!!
