Hi ya'll. I think that I have bought a 98 Ranger with a bad engine. I will be putting in a new crate engine if I do buy this truck. 3.0 L V6. What effect will ARX have on new engine and should I start maint from the first?
I think its a great idea to start the maintenance dose from the get go. First I would run a short OCI, say 500 to 1000 miles. Then start the maintenance dose with the first regular OCI. ARX will not impeed the ring seating action need for a good break in. ARX will clean up any deposits formed from hot spot areas during the break in. Good idea to keep the vitals clean from the get go.
Sorry about the double post, but. Why do you think the original motor is bad or in need of replacing? You may want to consider running a couple cleaning doses and rinses through it before junking it. We have seen quite a few motors resurrected and salvaged over the years from just cleaning them up. Unless the block is cracked or crank and cam totally spent from wear, I would consider saving it, if possible.
Truck belonged to a now deceased in law of my brother in law. Brother in law said that this guy did not put gas or oil in his vehicles, I asked how he got by like that and his response was " he walked a lot". Man put his $ into artifical substance abuse, hence his demise. This will be the 3rd engine in the truck. Brother in law is mechanic and installed the 2nd, said this one is gone. He would try almost anything before swapping an engine for free. This man has more vehicles in various states of malfunction. left widow with a yard full of junk.
Auto-Rx in a new engine is a very good idea. Engines start producting crud from the first start. We put a maintenance does in a new Fit at just under 100 miles and when the oil was later changed there was a bit of crud to be seen in a clear container.
I put a 4 ounce dose in everything I own, every oil change.
