ARX combined with ATF additives

I have an 02 Tundra with the red bottle of Lube Guard additive in the ATF.  If I want to flush the tranny out using ARX, should I just add the 6oz to the existing ATF or flush the ATF out with regular ATF first, then add the ARX since it has the Lube Guard in it already?

If you read the instructions for transmissions you will see that you can add 6 ounces of Auto-Rx and run it 1500 miles and then change your ATF. I would just add Auto-Rx now and when your 1500 miles are over change your fluid yourself or get a T-Tech done, make sure you drop the pan and clean it out and also change your ATF filter, the reason I say to clean the pan is you will have some junk on the bottom of the pan.

I read it and it says, "If you have used additives drive an additional 500 miles."  The way I interpreted that was, if you have used them in the past, then do this procedure.  I was unsure if it was talking about if you were presently using additives. Now I know I can add ARX in with my ATF that already has an additive (Lube Guard) added to it already.  Thank you for the clarification.

Do you know if your ATF filter is a screen type or the mesh type, and what is the spec of the transmission fluid you are using, what kind of fluid are you using in the transmission and what made you put Lube Guard in there.

Just kidding. But I never really considered LG an additive. I just thought that was something that every transmission should have. At least that's what the guy at O'rielly's said.

I'm not sure.  I was told by Toyota it had the screen type filter and some other people say it has the paper one.  The tranny pan has never been off.  I have done 3 tranny flushes on it myself using Valvoline ATF with 1 bottle of red Lube Guard.  The truck has 75,007 on it as of today.

I have done lots of research into the Lube Guard tranny additive (red bottle) and I have found many good things about it.  Back in the old days, they used a synthetic additive in positive traction rear ends, which the LG additive is the same concept.  ARX does however work better cleaning the tranny out over the LG tranny flush.  ARX fixed my tranny problem in the Civic but the LG didn't.

I always have thought of the lubegard red as an anit-wear and anti-oxidant with little friction modifier. Rear axle additives for posi diffs are definitely almost all friction modifier. Now LG black will do what the red does, plus friction modifier. LG platinum does all, plus an even better anti-wear chemistry. IMO the LG additives are not needed at all if using one of the high quality synthetic ATF's that are available. I have used Schaeffers, Amsoil, Mobil 1, and Redline. ARX does a great job to "fix" the problems that the lower quality fluids and infrequent service practices leave behind. You will not be disappointed.
