I'm slowly approaching 2,500 miles, and will be doing an oil and filter change soon for the rinse stage. I'm following the oil burning application, although I changed my oil filter at the 1,250 mile mark. For the cleaning stage, I've used a Group III Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 10W-30 with ARX.

I've got three engine oil options for the rinse stage, all mineral based, and wanted to ask for recommendations on which would be a better oil. Option one is Mobil Drive Clean 10W-30 and option two is a locally produced 20W-50 motor oil. Finally, the last option is to stick with Motorcraft. Any recommendations will be muchly appreciated, thanks!

Edit: Motorcraft SB 10W-30 is a hydro-cracked Group III motor oil, such as Penzzoil Platinum.

Stick with Motorcraft for entire application of Auto-Rx is done. Use it also as regular oil until oil burning is greatly diminished or stopped.

Some oil additive packages in other oil,s not good choice to help stop oil burning.

Something I forgot to ask, the vehicle has over 100,000 miles...would this be anything to consider?

Falcon LS,

I would do 2 cleanings with engines over 100K miles.
