Old Audi Diesel & Hi Mi Camry

I'm trying to determine how much ARX invest in.  I have 3 cars to treat and questions on 2 of them.

1980 Audi 5000S Diesel 5cyl 2 ltr 126k orig mi.  Does this size engine need two bottles of ARX for each treatment as described in diesel appl's?

Top of cyl head very clean. It burns 1 qt every 7-900 mi which I hope to improve with ARX.  Two mechanics gave different speculations, either dried valve stem seals (the car has obviously sat in a garage for much of its 28 yrs) or problems w/piston rings.

93 Camry 275k mi.  I bought this car to put ARX to the test.  It looks to be very heavily sludged but runs smooth as silk with great pickup?  With this many miles does it usually take more than two treatments to clean it out?

Any experienced opinions greatly appreciated.

jhauff,

Have you read the instructions on the http://www.auto-rx.com/ web page?

1. 1980 Audi 5000S Diesel 5cyl 2 ltr 126k. (You need 2 cleanings and rinse phases.)

2.Top of cyl head very clean. It burns 1 qt every 7-900 mi which I hope to improve with ARX.  Two mechanics gave different speculations, either dried valve stem seals (the car has obviously sat in a garage for much of its 28 yrs) or problems w/piston rings.

(How many miles on this engine that will dertermine how many ARX's you will need.)

3. 93 Camry 275k mi.  I bought this car to put ARX to the test.  It looks to be very heavily sludged but runs smooth as silk with great pickup?  With this many miles does it usually take more than two treatments to clean it out?

(With 275 miles and sludged I would follow the heavy sludged instructions.)

Daryl

Thanks for the quick reply. I have read the diesel application online which prompted my question. I know that the diesel combustion process is dirtier than gasoline engines but can anyone explain further why a 2 liter diesel engine needs two bottles per treatment?

The diesel application instructions were for written large diesel engine's, like you'd find in a pickup truck. That is why the instructions called for using two bottles of ARX.  (See below)

What is the oil capacity of your Audi? Unless you have a 8+ quart capacity I think you'd be better off using one bottle per application.

E. Diesel Engines Application:  For large pickups / SUV's with diesel engines who's sump capacity is greater than 10 quarts.

jhauff,

TurboJim is correct Diesel engines have larger displacement than gas engine, need more than 12 ounces of Auto-Rx to clean effectively.
