Is Castrol syntech 5w-40 Group III oil?

I have a 2003 VW passat, the only oil it uses so far is Castrol syntech 5w-40, which is ''Full synthetic" oil, but some people said it's also 5w-40 Group III oil, can someone confirm that? is it compatible Auto-RXconfused

Does Auto-RX work with Pentosin CHF-11sconfused which is Passat power steering oil.

Thanks in advance

If it says Made in the USA on the back, it's almost certain to be Group III base, but it can still potentially have PAO (group IV) in it.

Castrol GTX is Group 111 Oil. As far as power steering question Auto-Rx is not an oil additive or solvent based product. Auto-Rx is compatible with power steering fluids. Make sure you follow application.

What does the oil bottle say? European Formula, made in Germany? All oils are compatable with ARX. You'd be better off though during the ARX application to use less exotic GTX.

That CHF 11S is expensive stuff. Unless you really feel a need to flush out your power steering system I'd hold off until a problem first develops.

It's said made in USA on the bottle of 5w-40, so it should be safe to use
in the clean and rinse phase.

My Passat is 5 yrs old and just passed 65000 mileage. Recently I DIY
the timing belt and tension, thermostat, flushed coolant, flushed ATF, flushed brake fluild, HID retro etc, and discovered the slight leak of PS hose.

Yeah, the PS fluild is very expensive, around $18 per liter, and you need 2 liter
to flush the power steering system. There is very slightly leak in the pressure hose, which is more than $200 to replace. To apply autorx, hopefully it will stop leaking there.

If you follow Auto-Rx Application and use Castrol GTX you should be fine. While your engine is only at 65,000 miles and on most engines would require only following instructions for engines under 100.000 miles. Passat,s turn into sludge mobiles for the most part.

Look at your dip stick and if you see oil grey matter thats sludge. Open your oil cap turnit over if oily gray stuff in grooves thats sludge. Last thing you can do is shine flashlight in oil reserve and look for oily grey stuff on valves
thats sludge. If any of these checks show up sludge than disreguard above application and print out application for sludge and follow it.

On either application go to Auto-Rx Maintenace Dose as soon as your finished.

Regarding your power steering your leak could be caused by a hole or loose connection or sludge. Would check these before using Auto-Rx and if you think you have troubles now use some petroleum or solvent based flush on your PS unit.
