I put Auto-Rx in at 343,000 miles, and then accidently did 2 1500 mile cleans, followed by a 3000 mile rinse, and I did another clean and rinse before going on the Maintenance Dose. Of course I put in Amsoil 100% synthetic and had a leak, so another clean and now I am 1700 miles into a 3000 mile rinse. I just think this engine could benefit with another 3000 mile rinse before going onto the Maintenance Dose to make sure I have rinsed everything that I can rinse before starting another Maintenance Dose. I finally got my cooling system issue taken care of. I drilled a 1/8th hole in the thermostat and the temp gauge comes right up too 180 degrees and stays there, no more fluctuating. I feel the tiny hole in the thermostat is relieving any air bubbles in the cooling system as well as keeping the pressure constant and not over pressurizing the cooling system. I do not have any more oil leaks and I could be wrong but I am guessing that if there is to much pressure in the cooling system it can cause some pressure in the engine that may or may not cause leaks. I just want to do another rinse so that any contaniments and Auto -Rx is washed off the seals so they can become more pliable. I am going to try to run this oil filter up to 3000 miles and when I do another rinse see if I can get 3000 miles out of an oil filter. I have read that you will know when an oil filter is in bypass because it will be cold and not hot. If it is hot there is oil flowing through and all is good. Any thoughts on this matter are more than welcome. I am now at 362,000 miles.
Thanks Daryl, It seems the further I go in the rinse phase that there is less oil leaking which probably means that the seals are becoming more pliable. I figure that since 343,000 miles I have used about 4 bottles of Auto-Rx in the engine which is about 48 ounces or 1.5 quarts so I think that it is best too let everything really rinse good.
