I have a 2003 Nissan Altima I purchased a few months back. When I went to change the oil I noticed sludge on my oil cap and in my valve cover. So, I went to the parts house to see what I could do about this. They recommended 1 bottle of Lucas oil on my next oil change. Thats when the problem started. I drove the car to work after the oil change. All was good. Then that evening when I left work blue smoke billowed out the back for about 30 seconds. I drove home and changed my oil again, with only conventional oil. But it still smoked when the oil level was full. I started researching the web and found "Bobstheoilguy" website. And posted my question. They recommended AutoRX. With that being said, here is what I just did. I pulled the valve cover off. Just an ever so slight amount of sludge. None in the weep holes. I put the valve cover back on. Changed my PCV valve. Changed my air filter. Changed my oil and filter. Added one bottle of AutoRX. Filled my gas tank up with one bottle of Gumout Regane FI cleaner. My biggest fear is valve damage, because I didn't see any bad sludge issues. I have only 64000 miles on the car. Any other thoughts on my blue smoke issue? It only smokes on start up and when i rev it up to about 4000 RPM. It burns about a quart and a half. And quits smoking. Until I top the oil off, again.
Please go to www.auto-rx.com and click on application for sludge. Print it out and follow it. read the FAQ your going to need to extend cleaning cycle mileage and rinse mileage as you have introduced solvents in your engine.
By the way sludge can be in the bottom of your engine and not easily detectable. Thisis why we formulated application so all areas get cleaned.
Last thing is to understand how the Auto-Rx Maintenance Plan works and make sure you implimet it.
You said I was going to need to extend cleaning cycle mileage and rinse mileage as I have introduced solvents in my engine. Could you elaborate on the milage extension? I am following the "Sludge Application" and was planning on driving 2500 miles with my new oil and AutoRX. While changing my filter at 1250 miles. Change my oil and filter with only conventional oil. Drive for 3000 miles. Change filter at 1500 miles. Then repeat for second treatment. And yes, I will be following the maintenance program.
