I have a question about oil to use during rinse. After running ARX for 2500 miles I changed my oil and after about 1000 miles I took my car in for servicing at the dealer and they changed my oil. I thought no problem oil is oil and it was about time for a filter change anyway but then I found out that they now use a synthetic blend oil. Should I change it or just let it go till the next oil change and then start a maintenance program? Thanks for the replies.
Should of read my own post a bit better. I usually change my own oil and I did put in dino oil for the rinse for the first 1000 miles till the dealer changed it and put in the semi synthetic. Does that change anything?
TurboJim, if you sort of consider this a 2nd rinse would it be OK to add a maintenance dose to it or just wait till the next oil change. Thanks in advance
The real question is: What is their "synthetic blend" composed of as far as groups of oil?
If their "synthetic blend" is really a mix of Group 1, 2, and/or 3 oils, then it's not really a true synthetic...
If it does have Group 4 or 5 oils in it, then Yes, not a good Rinse oil to use.
The only way you'll find out is if the Stealership actually really knows what oil they use. Then you'd have to find out what that oils Group breakdown really is.
Given the cheapness that is Stealerships, and how they like to make the maximum amount of $$$, I'd bet that their "synthetic blend" is really just made up of a mix of Group 1, 2, and/or 3.
It sounds to me that you could start your maintenance dose now. After all you did complete a 1000 mile rinse with simple dino. Besides the oil at the dealership was only a synthetic blend.
