My check engine light is back on. I did the 2 bottle cleaning this time and did the rinse phase. I did not do the full 3000 miles as I noticed that it seemed like my radiator fluid was boiling. I do not mean boiling over and my temperature gage did not go up very high. I thought I had some leaking so I opened up the hood to hear what sounded like rushing water. No leaks so this was not the problem. I had my oil changed and placed 4 ounces of the product in my engine. This seemed to cool things down a bit. Since then though I get this code and after a day or so it goes out again to only come back. I have not removed the VVT Oil Control Valve because I believe that some thing needs to be replaced when you do this and the toyota dealer did not think this was the problem since they have rarely ordered this part. I was going to order this online but was hoping that with a good cleaning of the engine that this problem would go away. I guess I have more checking to do. Of course this year I will have to do the smog check coming up in a few months.
Reading your previous thread on this same issue you had mentioned that there was a visible layer of deposits on or near your oil cap. When you look down in there now, has this lessened any? Does the engine consume any oil between oil changes, and how long are your oil change intervals now that you are done with the clean and rinse and using a maintenance dose?
As far as the code coming back after the ARX double-dose cleaning, sounds like there is still junk being loosened up and affecting your VVT control system. These VVT valve passages/clearances are likely very small and are prone to hanging up with any small amount of contamination that is being dislodged. When your engine throws this code, does it run any differently or just about the same?
Best advice I can give if the engine is still running smoothly is to be patient, continue with the maintenance dose, and do not extend oil change intervals until this problem goes away. Sounds like it is possible that the oil changes were neglected on this car before you got it.
I believe Frank that I asked you about the 2 bottles before I ordered it. You told me to go ahead with it. You are right it was in the testing phase when I did this. Before I did the 2 bottles I went over the 3000 miles and it was more like 4500 or so. This is when the light came on so this is why I went and did the cleaning again. It was going along well until just recently. I believe that I have been doing the oil changes every 3,000 miles if not sooner. I noticed what looked like varnish when I placed the 4 ounces in my car. I saw that some were placing 4 ounces in there cars on the message boards and since I have had sludge issues I decided it would probably be a good idea to do the same. I do not notice any difference in the driving of my car when the light comes on.
I'm going to assume that at one point in time ARX cleaned up the contaminent build up in your engine and now the build up is back. If that is the case the first thing I would suspect that has caused this a clogged PCV system. I would replace (not just clean) your PCV valve and make sure that all of the hoses, etc. are clear of obstructions.
You mention that the check engine light has come on. What are the codes? If they indicate that you have a faulty VVT Oil Control Valve and dealer does not think that is the problem what is his suggestion?
Your right now i remeber your telephone call. I still say do another rinse for 3000 miles and past again. There are no obstructions or particulates when using Auto-Rx (you have liquified them during the cleaning phase)

I have not brought my car in as I have my own testing device. The reason I have not brought it in is because those that have brought it in get the problem back again. I was just hoping that between this product and maybe a gas additive that it would fix the problem. I have not done any thing with the PCV Valve.
