Purchased a 2000 Ford Taurus SEL w/the Duratec 24V V6 engine about 1/2 year ago.  Currently has 117K.

Right now it's in getting some gaskets replaced (oil pan gasket is one of them). I'm having them put in some 5W-30 WalMart non synthetic Oil that you all recommended here.

From what I've read...add one bottle of Auto-RX and run that for about 2500 miles.  Change the oil, and put in 5W-30 Walmart non synthetic for 3000 miles.

Then go back and run a second application since my engine is over 100K.  After the second "rinse" I can go back to using 5W-30 synthetic with a 1/2 cup of AutoRX with each 5,000 mile oil change?

Thanks for any help,

Nick in Columbia, SC

TecNickal,

You have read the instructions right. Thank you for purchasing ARX and good luck.

Please go to Auto-Rx maintenance plan (3 ounces every oil change ) when your done with cleaning. You will never need to ever clean your engine again and you will keep the same compression and combustion values you after Auto-Rx Cleaning. It is a fair bet your engine will not need any expensive internal engine work either.

The gaskets replaced (mentioned above) were the valve cover gaskets, as well as the lower intake and upper intake gaskets and the oil pan gasket.

Well I have crossed 119,200 this morning. I am amazed how nasty the oil looks just from the dipstick (which means things are working!). Time to get another Motorcraft filter and some more WalMart 5W-30 for the rinse phase. Then it's off for a 1000 mile trip to Nashville TN, let's hope the transmission makes it!

TecNickal,

Perhaps now would be a good time before the trip to add 6oz of ARX to the tranny and clean it up also

TecNical, it might be a good idea to run a dino oil after you finish your 2nd rinse phase for about 3000 miles, because I think some rinsing of junk may still be going on.

You purchased this car used so you may not know how the previous owner serviced this car as far as oil changes.

If the oil is looking nasty during the Clean Phase, there is a chance it will look nasty during the Rinse Phase. It might be a good idea to change your oil filter out halfway through the rinse phases.

Have done wash/rinse phases of AutoRX:

-Walmart 5W-30/MC FL820s @ 117,400: Begin AutoRX Cycle #1
-Walmart 5W-30/MC FL820S @ 120,000: "Rinse", No AutoRX added.
-Walmart 5W-30/MC FL820S @ 122,500: Begin AutoRX Cycle #2
-MC FL820S @ 125,000 filter change (left oil alone)

I'm at 127,000 now, so I guess I'm due for the "rinse" phase since I ran for 5K on the current WalMart 5W-30 oil (as I said above changed the filter half way).

I will run the dino oil again for 3,000 miles w/a FL820S filter again.

I'll try the AutoRX in the transaxle when I'm due for a fluid change (15K miles away) smile

Seems to be running AOK.  There are a few lingering issues that it has, unrelated to AutoRX and the engine.  The car continues to run quite well!

I'm already at 128K, so in a couple thousand, I'll finally switch over to some synthetic oil.  just need to figure out what brand of 10W-30 to use...i'm sticking to the Motorcraft filter though.
