Auto-Rx In My 2004 Mercury Marauder's Transmission
Permalink

My 2004 Mercury Marauder has 26,000 miles on it, I currently run a Maintenance Dose of auto-rx in my  motor oil.

Last week I decided to add 6 ounces of auto-rx to my transmission since I will be changing the trans fluid and filter soon. I have read on other boards that people are having problems down the road when there 4r75W transmissions are not shifting very well, this is usually at 50,000 miles or higher.

I have had great results with auto-rx in my Turbo 350 transmission on my El Camino, so I decided now was the time.

I have since put on about 300 miles with auto-rx in my transmission, the shifts are better, there is absolutely no sloppy shifting.

The car even feels a little bit quicker, I feel this is auto-rx liquifying any varnish or junk in the transmission.

Before I put in auto-rx I looked at the color of the trans fluid and it was bright red.

I believe it says on the auto-rx forum that contaniments build up in the 1st 25,000 miles.

My observations have proven to me that Frank is right in printing that statement.

I should mention that this is an automatic transmission with overdrive.

A bit of advice, since the overdrive is the weakest gear in your automatic transmission please remember to put your car in drive if you are going to:

1) Pass someone
2) Climb a steep hill
3) Any fast spirited driving
4) Crawling in traffic

Save your transmission and remeber overdrive is for cruising on the highway or any other road at a steady pace.

Very cool Brent, thanks for posting.

I'm going to get another car soon and the first thing I'm going to do is add ARX to the motor and transmission. It has been going really well in the Corolla.

If you guys are doing auto-rx in your engine you owe it to yourself to do it in the transmission too.

My Marauder feels like a different car now, if I hit the gas hard it throws me back in the seat, the car did not feel this way before when there was no auto-rx in my transmission.
